Perhaps one of the most surreal experiences I've ever seen in my life was this sunset in San Juan, La Union this year. It was too overwhelming as I gasped while I slowly walked towards the shore looking up. The sky and the sea mirrors each other — the clouds crashed while the waves cried raindrops. It was magical especially with just the thought that sunsets can be this beautiful like how endings can be this peaceful. I started this year with just a simple hope for it to be kinder, not greater and never the best, but just to be kinder. But this year was something else, it struck me to my core, redefined me and showed me what I was made of. It was as if I had to meet myself again for the first time and unlearn how to love him so I could love him better. I went out of my comfort zone and quit my day job and started leading our humble company, financials weren't as stable, snapped out on some friends, suffered intense acne breakout, had to quit an org position I feel passionately about to focus on my mental health, got hospitalized and lastly, ended our five year relationship. Ending a beautiful relationship just so we can pursue a life where we can be more as individuals is the best sunset this story can ever have. From Day 1 we both knew that there shall come a time where we both had to take a step back to let each other grow and had we not been prepared maybe we couldn't have faced this chapter with such grace. I owe a huge chunk of my wisdom, strength and independence to those five years I got to be beside such a strong queen, @klareesi . Thank you. Challenging as it had been, this year also had its fair share of celebrations. We celebrated my father's 60th in good health and disposition, my family's health is in check, our little company had small wins, youngest bro will soon graduate (🤞), meeting new people and solidified friendships. All of these I will forever be indebted to this year. As this decade comes to a close I learned that this time I won't wish for a kinder year but just the fresh eyes to see every next sunsets in my life the way I saw it in San Juan that faithful Monday of December 2019. 🌅🌄 https://www.instagram.com/p/B6veFc5p7bi9DRWW-j-hBsr-1MiDlQ6F1VfVV40/?igshid=mwn4mv9he6he

I would probably never become a water person in this lifetime. Its depths terrifies me and yet whenever it hits stones and sands, it pacifies me. It reminds me that somehow rage is always meant to be calmed. Always. (at San Juan, La Union) https://www.instagram.com/p/B5sGqbHpFlG_4Q5-OVrn-qeLR3Rdi0AJF8kdU00/?igshid=1qipdu0df2cjy
Para sa barkadahan na tumibay at tumatagal dahil sa pagpa-plastikan, pangungutya at pagsasakripisyo ng iilan para mapaligaya ang nakararami. 🍻 But seriously tho, I realized that friendship is all about thriving — going deep and deeper or shallow and shallower. It doesn't always have to satisfy the grand idea of being a "crying shoulder", sometimes it's just about being there in simpler times when life is slower and at times stagnant. It's about who you chooses to be with when you silently stir your coffee or who you trust to take you home when bar drinks consume you. I guess friendship is that toast you make with people as you wish them the good life you also wish for yourself. Well these people remind me to celebrate those slow paces, of forgetting that you don't always have to rush and keep up, that you can just smile at life and watch it from the calmness of the mountains and crashing waves. We may not be the best of friends but uhm I'd always choose to be with this bunch around a bonfire drinking beers and eating smores hehe :) https://www.instagram.com/p/B5mR78hpxVXzEh-HtQexq2Sv11yDqPPTwFqv8M0/?igshid=1j6qsi024b7nq
