I don’t know if I actually want to start Huevember four days late, but I felt like playing with colors today regardless.

I used it as an excuse to continue working on Faithless designs, trying to figure out what Sydney looked like when she was younger.

It’s been 5 years since my first attempt at NaNoWriMo. While I have no intention of actually attempting it again this year, I did decide to put more time this month into working out details from the story whose first draft was half written that year.

“I’ll never understand how you manage to get dressed and make coffee while still asleep.”

Pen lifted her head from the table and looked at Sophie. “I’m not asleep.”

“I always thought ‘I’m not awake until I’ve had my coffee.’ was an exaggeration.”

Pen yawned. As she finished her coffee, she rested her head on her hand to keep it off the table. Her eyes closed again.

Sophie set the kitchen timer for five minutes and left it on the table next to Pen. “Okay then.” With a kiss on the cheek that didn’t stir Pen, Sophie laughed. “Not asleep.”

"Fuck you!" The words came out ten seconds before Jenia realized she spoke them. Though not usually phased by her own harsh words, she promised to handle her anger better. She tried to apologize. Gilbria placed her hand over Jenia's mouth. Jenia wanted to protest -- to grab Gilbria's arm and remove her hand -- but se was sure the aggression would make things worse. She instead tried to speak with a covered mouth.

Gilbria shook her head. Jenia tried to plead with her eyes, but the other girl turned away and walked toward the door.

"Are we going to--"

"We aren't going to anything," Gilbria said as she closed the door.

Jenia let herself fall on the chair behind her. She covered her face with the pillow that had been tossed on it. "Fuck me."
