i gotta start by pointing out some authors that have carved out a space in my mind. really a stellar job of playing with the characters and posting it online for me to rub my hands together evilly to
pleasuretoburn - just about 40 fics at the time of writing. this author is very prolific and has very few fics with under 10k words, so there is a LOT to pick through here. they have interesting, novel plots, and, from what iâve seen, some reeeally good pacing
ORiley42 - i think oriley has become a staple of hilson in the past years. lots of awesome smut, lines and scenarios that make me lol, and a really solid grasp of the characters (and a willingness to take them a bit ooc in ways that circle back to feeling like the show at times). also about 40 fics at time of writing this. many of them long. discovered recently that i used to watch their supernatural edits when i was like. 13
ShutUpGwen - really big fan of the works of theirs that iâve read. gets these characters to good places in ways that feel pretty natural and in-character. they have a knack for writing house fics that have a solid and reliable shape to them. which sounds silly but i do mean it
karaokegal - i havenât counted how many fics she has on her LJ, and iâm terrible at navigating the site. i binged all of her hilson in early 2026, amongst other ficlets with the fellows/misc characters. many of her works are from the late 2000s and early 2010s, which is funâi was still a kid when the show ended and itâs cool to see reactions to the show as it was coming out. also iâm a huge yucky fan of the way she characterizes house and wilsonâshe does a phenomenal job of writing them (and their thought processes/conclusions) as the manipulative, deceitful, and complicated characters that they ARE. wilson in particular fits the bill of that âlonely and spooky characterâ that RSL described him as a long time back. she is dedicated to them needing and hurting each other, forever. also worth noting that she has an extremely high concentration of lines across all of her fics that strike deeply and briefly. really, really good stuff. i recommend her for hilson shippers that enjoy angst and hurt that manages to satisfy without a great deal of comfort. or much at all.

very well-written. house goes to rehab shortly after the season 3 christmas episode, one of my favorites. presented as short snippets from many different perspectives, which is refreshing (the main 6 from the first three seasons). b-plot where wilson gets cuddy pregnant and they live together. the drama is calculated well and there are nicely choreographed moments of awkwardness and reconciliation that feel believable and satisfying. ends very jarringly, without closure for just about anything. a bit of a let-down in that regard but it can be channeled into bittersweetness

Editing a Bagginshield edit, and I can't help but notice the acorn symbolism between Bilbo and Thorin. From the start we see Bilbo having acorn like accessories, like the buttons on his shirt (there's light allusion that either the Baggins or Took family have oak as their symbol but idk how true that is), and we later are shown how Thorin became Oakenshield by wielding a shield of oak in battle.
Then the most important scene, is where Bilbo choses to show Thorin an acorn and that this moment is what temporarily breaks Thorin from his madness.
Doesn't this just show how fated they were to meet? The eldest child (Bilbo is an only child but he has many responsibilities like Thorin does), they both come from powerful families, they had no wife, and their symbol is oak/acorn.

I wanted to think up of another story idea for Caleb and I couldn't help but be inspired by other lads fic writers doing medieval fantasy type ones so yeah! ;)
Right now, the idea is very blurby so who knows it'll prob be shorter or with less parts than my other ones depending on how inspired I feel!
Nonmc was part of a subset group of princesses that came from various provinces who in turn grew up together by attending etiquette classes, balls, and tea parties at the royal capital. The idea was that by being around the same or similar ages with other girls of royalty, it would invoke friendship and comradery for years to come.
It worked for a time, especially at the delicate stages of childhood and preteen life. Many princesses formed their own little groups or cliques, spending their days creating these strong bonds.
Nonmc happened to be apart of a group that had the adventurous and sociable MC, the impromptu leader for them. Everyone gravitated to her, including nonmc. MC was different than most, preferring to play in the mud or swing a sword even while wearing a frilly dress.
An indirect factor to this friendship with MC was getting to see the knight-in-training Caleb, MC's childhood friend and son of the Knight Captain for her royal family.
All of their friends seemed to flock towards Caleb as he was training to become a guard for MC, almost always trying to catch his attention even when he was on duty. It was clear that many had a crush on the slightly older boy, and nonmc was no different.
Nonmc was more considerably shy than her more boisterous group of friends, her glances of adoration towards Caleb being behind trees or a book during study hours.
As they all grew up, the crushes that the princesses had for Caleb seemed to multiply. A lanky boy who barely fit his armor was now a young man with a bulky physique that proved he was fit for eventually leading alongside his father.
During balls, he was asked time and time again for dances or gifted ribbons meant to court him, yet he refused each time. The only one who ever got such a chance was MC, his best friend at this point.
Like many other young woman, nonmc watched wistfully as her crush seemed happier in MC's presence. Something that's been clear since they were young but many thought could be changed with time.
As years passed, Caleb was sent off with many other knights to fight against the civil wars brewing between provinces far and wide. Everyone was saddened to see him depart, many of which were there on the day he left with the massive brigade. Among them was nonmc, who could only look on from the crowd with worry and hope that he'll return safely.
After three years on the battlefield, it was Caleb's name that stood atop the many victories leading to peace for the provinces. His strategies in battle and steadfast alliances made his once decent title reach that of the rankings for royalty.
Fanfare and praises were a given when he returned with his brigade, a parade held as he rode in on a mighty steed. He wore intricate armor, the silver and gold decorated in scars of battle. A dark fur trimmed cloak covered his broad shoulders, the clinking of chains and medals jostling with each step his horse took.
Many royal families saw his accolades as an opportunity, making them offer up their daughters for marriage. They persuaded him with gold, the finest wine and weapons... Some buying and writing their way into getting his attention.
Nonmc's family was no different, her parents had no shame in trying to bribe Caleb's father or falsify documents to say that his daughters should be first in line for his choice in marriage.
Nonmc's older sisters could see the appeal in having a renowned knight who would elevate their lineage even if they don't particularly like him, but the thing was they knew of nonmc's crush on him from childhood so they convinced their father to have her be chosen.
It seemed like their arranged marriage was to be written. Caleb would be given nonmc's hand in marriage and become a part of their royal family.
Nonmc should have been happy with the outcome, but the way it was done made her... upset. She didn't like how her parents forced him to choose her, neither did she like that her older sisters had her be picked almost out of ridicule.
To make it all worse, she knew Caleb seemed heartbroken over this. Despite how much time has passed, he still looked at MC the same way from afar. Nonmc thought it was a given that he'd rather have chosen her instead.
So, rather than be selfish with this opportunity handed to her on a silver platter, she decided to take matters into her own hands. She took a pouch that had a large sum of gold, a travel pack, and a suitcase of some belongings, before bribing a few maids and a guard to help with her plan.
On one early morning, where she should have been woken up hours later for breakfast and a schedule full of wedding preparations, she instead chose to run away from home. She left a letter on her desk saying she was leaving for good and to not find her, hoping that it would be enough to keep them from sending a search party.
After walking through some sunlit forests, she found an older couple on the road with a traveling wagon filled with goods. She decided to pay them some gold so she could hitch a ride in the back, letting them dictate the direction she'll head off in.
As the wagon rocked and jostled her sitting body amongst crates of potatoes and other vegetables, she could only think that she was doing the right thing by acting as adventurous as she believed MC would be.
Nonmc wouldn't have to worry about strenuous politics or forcing Caleb into marriage, it'll be like a fresh start! Maybe she'll go live out in the countryside where no one knew her, even sell flowers or trinkets for a living!
And hopefully, Caleb will get to choose MC this time! Or so she believes.

As Tsuâteyâs watching his trainees spar with one another he canât keep his eyes off you and Kaâlan talking by a nearby tree. Heâs taken notice of how much time youâve spent with him lately and itâs been bothering him because he doesnât understand why both of you need to converse so much.
You and Tsuâtey arenât mates yet but youâre towards the end of the courting stage and he feels like heâs made that very clear with the extravagant items heâs created from his bare hands and gifted to you.
Each bracelet, necklace, and piece of clothing are created as statement pieces to make sure every Naâvi knows you are to be mated soon and he feels like everyone respects that except for Kaâlan.
Tsuâtey isnât upset with you having male friends, heâs fine with that because being Tsakarem means you have to be friendly with everyone. The reason he doesnât like Kaâlan is because itâs clear he doesnât just want to be your friend, he wants to come out of the friend zone and step into a romantic light and thatâs what pisses Tsuâtey off.
Tsuâtey has noticed Kaâlan eyes hone in on your ass as you walk away, heâs overheard him talking to some of his friends about how he wants to bend you over and make you his, heâs even heard through whispered gossip that heâs planning to try and court you, show you that heâs better suited for you than Tsuâtey.
Oh, how the future Oloâeyktan wants to just snap the skxawngs [moron; idiot] neck for even looking your way but he knows he canât do that, especially with so many people around to bear witness so he just bottles up his emotions and tries to focus on training the eager warriors around him.
âFocus! Straighten your posture!â Tsuâtey shouts as he walks around, fixing a few of the warrior's stances around him before his gaze wanders backover to where you and Kaâlan are. He doesnât see anything going on between the both of you that should worry him but a few seconds later he sees Kaâlan place his hand against the tree next to him and lean over a little so heâs closer to you.
Tsuâtey can see the mixture of a smirk and smile thatâs on Kaâlanâs face, how his eyes are focused on your plump lips and every few moments they stare at your breasts.

This was one of my first superbat fanfics I had ever read! And absolutely a fantastic gateway into the superbat space. The tension between Clark and Bruce is so tightly created, and I could not put it down. I think I read it over a road trip, so its definitely a bit more of a longer read! It is definitely more focused on Clark and Bruce, rather than Superman and Batman, if that makes sense. Their identities without their masks are carefully explored, and from what I remember, they were very in character. It deals with (unfortunately) time typical homophobia, media's perception of queer celebrities, and biphobia. So not only is it a great fake relationship fic, but a fic that explores important real-life themes. I read it when I didn't have an ao3 account, but I need to go back to leave a comment of my love to this creator.
I Loved You Before You Knew Me, by lostinreeverie
Bruce gets sent back in time, turned into a teenager again, and the worst part is that Clark Kent is way too pretty for his own good. How the hell is he supposed to focus on getting home?
Gosh. What a fic. It leaves you with such a beautiful light feeling in your chest. Bruce gets sent back in time and goes to the man he knows who can help; Clark Kent. It's so sweet to see them interact as teenagers and how tender they are with one another. There is light angst, but it gets resolved pretty quickly. I also like the fact that the time travel has affected their present time line. Sometimes, those factors get swept under the rug in fics, but Clark and Bruce (as adults) have a full conversation about it afterward. It is a relatively short read, but super worth it. No smut (which thank God because they're minors in this fic.)
I Only Want You, by Mawiiish
Bruce discovers a passion of Clark's that he never expected and now he can't stop thinking about Clark's hands in his hair. Good thing his stylist is on maternity leave. He's a creature of habit, he can't just find another stylist to fill in; he doesn't trust strangers - what's a poor billionaire to do?
The yearning in this fic is unmatched. Every single thing these two do has me losing it. Bruce feels so in character, it had me snickering in bed. Instead of asking Clark to cut his hair like a normal person, the man decides to take the most difficult route possible. It turns out, Clark was doing the exact same thing! I love how human Clark feels in this fic too. He has other hobbies; one that includes trimming and cutting hair. It feels very Clark like. It really highlights that at the end of the day, hes a farm boy from Kansas. It's a short read as well! No smut

Saving Gotham wasn't hard. Letting someone help? Letting someone in? Easier said than done.
This fic has left me speechless. Like. Jaw dropped. There are multiple subjects that this fic covers that may be triggering; so please enter it with that in mind. Some of these subjects include homophobia, racism, misogyny, antisemitism, and nazi movements. This fic does NOT encourage these subjects- it is apart of the main villain organization Superman and Batman have to fight. I usually only recommend fics I've read completely. Admittedly, I have not finished this one. But with the way the author writes, I doubt it has a bad ending. Bruce and Clark genuinely start hating one another, and it's pleasant to see their slow burn while also dealing with their hero identities become friends as well. The threat in this fic? Gosh, I get so anxious over what they do and what they're intending to do. It really gets my heart pumping! Bruce is a liiiiittle bit of a stalker in this one, but not in a creepy yandare way. Usually I'm not a fan of Stalker!Bruce, but it was well written for his character within this fic. He is characterized from the 2022 Batman rendition, so it honestly makes perfect sense lol. The chemistry that Bruce and Clark have in this fic??? Oh my gosh. The bathroom scene?? Pumped my fists in the air when it happened. Everything fits together well! I also really loved the realism of Bruce being a billionaire, and what he has to go through. I also found it funny that Lois vapes in this fic. Not important, but I giggled reading that. There is smut in this fic! So this is definitely intended for ages 18+ . I need to finish reading this beautiful fic after I'm done writing this post.

In a universe where your soulmateâs injuries show up on your skin, Bruce is convinced he doesnât have a soulmate, and Clark is seriously concerned for his soulmateâs well-being.
To be honest, I paused my recommendation list to reread this fic. It's absolutely worth it. Rotasha is one of the best superbat ao3 authors out there due to their exceptional writing abilities. Clark and Bruce feel so aligned to their Canon characters in this fic- half of the time I forgot I was on ao3. The soulmates aspect is a major piece in an overarching puzzle, tying together Bruce and Clark in a pleasant bow. I got literal butterflies reading this fic. It features Dick Grayson (who I always love to see) and actually makes him such a major part to the fic. I feel like half of the time, if Robin's are included in a fic, they mostly sit around. Dicks characterization feels perfect here. Young, bold, a little naive, yet kind hearted and strong. 10/10 would recommend. It's a longer read as well, and there is no smut. There are sexual implications, but nothing crazy.
Don't Hold Your Breath, by frozenpotions

Buckle up everyone. What an addictive Rollercoaster this fic is. Personally for me, I am not the biggest smut enjoyer? I like tension more than the act, if that makes sense? (Not a diss on anyone who does! If you like smut, there is literally no judgment whatsoever.) But I was very pleased at this fic!!! This fic was the perfect friends with benefits to lovers read. And I love how Clark doesn't exactly realize his feelings right away!! Clark goes through a rough period in his life, and has to organize through those feelings (even if that's hooking up with your best friend). Then, Bruce's own feelings are incredibly valid too. I genuinely felt so much sympathy towards him. In a way, it is neither and both of their faults lmao. Waiter! Waiter! Smut with angst please! Beautiful combo here. Definitely for a mature audience. I'd also recommend checking out some of the art that comes in this fic too! (Also 18+). I was going to say this fic isn't too long of a read, then realized it was 50.4k words. But to be honest I can't remember how fast I read this fic, so take it as you will. Would recommend! There's so many light hearted moments to balance out the dark, and I think the author handles it very well!

Clark encounters a curse that strips him of his powers. Bruce rescues him and takes him back to Wayne Manor. In the seventy-two hours that it takes to reverse the curse, everything between them changes.
Okay, I'm realizing Rotasha wrote so many amazing Superbat fics. Gosh I wonder if their back hurts carrying this ship space. This one is a one shot, but oh my gosh I feel like I dream about this fic. It's so tender. It's so sweet. Clark loses his powers, and Bruce is a steady rock to guide and take care of him. There's a scene where Clark listens to Bruce's heartbeat up close and phew I still blush thinking about it. It makes me squeal with delight over how pure it is. If you're feeling fluff to the max, I cannot recommend this fic enough. No smut, but some more lime like themes.
Fade Into A Dream, by Rotasha
Bruce Wayne has always known heâd end up with Clark Kent. He knows because Clark Kent shows up in his dreams. Bruce and Clarkâs soulmate relationship, told through their shared dreams.
So, I REALLY like Rotashas fics. I haven't reread this one in a long time, but I might honestly do that after this fic list, along with Gotham Is Burning. From what I can remember, this fic quite literally shook me to my core. Bruce and Clark are connected through their dreams, and they find peace amongst one another. Clark deals with internalized homophobia in this fic as well, and it was heartbreaking to read. Theres actually quite a bit of angst in this fic. I don't remember any smut, but the tags say Dream Sex, so listen to the author there.

Super short read, but super cute :) Bruce subtly tries to tell Clark he wants to be with him in Kryptonian, and Clark keeps trying to correct his grammar. It's fun, fluffy, and leaves me smiling. No smut!

THIS FIC OH MY GOODNESS đ It's so tender. It's so soft. I'm a big fan of corensupes and battinson, and I think this fic is perfect for them. Like, you can hear them in this fic. I really love how intimate it is, and Bruce letting Clark in such a close manner. They bathe with one another, and it really highlights vulnerability. Naked physically and mentally in a sense. No smut, and it is a one shot!

the timing of Mike telling Will that asking him to be his friend is âthe best thing Iâve ever done,â cannot be understated
Mike says this after:
All of the trauma of s1
Bobâs death
The trauma of the lab massacre
Mike seemingly accepting that El is dead (he tells Max that she was taken âjust like Bobââand Bob is dead, meaning in that moment he is talking about El as if sheâs truly dead for the first time)
Will is fully possessed, tied up, possibly close to being consumed completely
And because Mike becomes entangled with the UD narrative because of his connection to Will, because of his desire to find Will when he went missing, it stands to reason that, had he never become Willâs friend, he never wouldâve become entangled with the UD (maybe tangentially through Nancy, if Barb was still taken & killed) and would have never gone through those traumas (again, besides Barb)
So by telling Will, after all this trauma, that befriending him is âthe best thing Iâve ever done,â Mike is telling him,
âEven with everything thatâs happened, I donât regret befriending you. Even with all the trauma and loss, asking you to be my friend is the best thing Iâve ever done. I donât regret it. I donât regret you. In spite of everything, I would do it all over again.â
And again, this is after Mike has accepted that El is dead (heâs wrong, but he still accepted it).
i absolutely adore that even when mike stands his ground and even raises his voice at will, as soon as he sees will's sad little face go silent, there's a flicker of guilt showing on his face. this is so cute to me omg. he's so weak.
