Howl’s Moving Castle (2004)
(three decades into my life) sorry I wasn’t paying attention, can we start again?
Some rando: You should think about stopping your prescription
Me: My pills make me not want to die tho
They: You shouldn’t want to die, that’s not normal
Me: Yeah that’s why I’m taking my pills
Again: But you aren’t the *real* you when you’re on your pills
Me: I’m the alive version of me
An actual doctor, once: “Relying On A Chemical Crutch For A Hormonal Imbalance Denies The Fortitude Of The Human Soul”
Me: Cool so like I’m agnostic
They: “But you might be on pills the rest of your life!”
Me: “So?”
Good! That means that I have a “rest of” my life to continue living!
Thanks to the pills.
Meanwhile, no person ever: “You should think about giving up your insulin/antiretrovirals/beta blockers/anti-rejection drugs/prosthetic legs/daily multivitamin, because using those your whole life is bad for some reason”
Oh no, they do that too.
I have a kidney transplant. A woman once told me she didn’t believe in organ transplants and that people should just die when they’re meant to.
Sounds like a great set-up for a murder
People who are fully healthy, fit and neurotypical seem to think they are that way because they’re doing something right that the rest of us haven’t thought of, and not just because they got lucky
Are we ready to talk about doctors denying pain killers to us people with chronic debilitating pain and the “have you tried losing weight/exercising more/eating healthier/cutting out entire food groups instead” for us with chronic pain/illness, or are we still the exception in this conversation?
One of the neurologist I saw told me that my life threatening neurological condition could be cured if I ate more soup. He gave me printouts of recipes while at the same time denying me a referral to neurosurgery, any therapeutic medication or painkillers.
Also, I can’t have salt. Have you tasted soup made without any salt? It’s just wet vegetables!
''what if you regret it'' then you will expirience regret - a normal and unavoidable part of the human expirience.
Fibonacci: Hmm... I sure wish there was a way to mathematically represent an empty quantity.
The simple yet useful Arabic numeral:
two sides of the same coin.
BRING HIM BACK
oh thank goodness
when i say “aros can still date” i mean that as in “aros can do whatever the fuck they want and it doesn’t have to make sense to you”
but some of y’all say “aros can still date” to mean “aros are still able to fit your standards of an acceptable person despite their abnormality” and i do not fuck with that
One of the best letters I’ve ever seen just popped up on my Facebook memories. Still makes me laugh.
As today is the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, it’s a great time to revisit Dinah from Devon’s memory of this historic event. And yes, still makes me laugh.
Today is the 54th anniversary of the moon landing, but Dinah’s diary entry is still absolutely magnificent.
57th anniversary of the moon landing and the best diary entry in the history of diary entries. Sit down Samuel Pepys, it’s over. UGH.
if you understand what i am going through, then don't get upset when i don't heal at your pace.
