Rei wasn’t exactly someone Aiichirou knew all that well. He was aware of the blue haired male’s love towards science, of his intelligence, and also that before joining the swimming club, he’d been part of the track team. But... that was about it; nothing more, nothing less.

And yet, when one sees a basketball flying straight towards someone’s head, they don’t really have the time to evaluate their familiarity with that certain person before impulsively trying to push them out of the way. Thankfully, the grass had somewhat attenuated their fall as they both toppled down to the ground, with Ai on top of Rei.

“ Ah, I am so sorry!-- Are you alright? ” He questioned, quickly taking his weight off the other male’s body and trying to see whether he’d saved him from harm or had actually caused more instead.

The street seemed nearly deserted as he made his way up the tilted sidewalk. Quiet too. Well, there was no wonder, really, at such an ungodly hour. But now that the loud, high-pitched meowls which had been emerging from the little box he was holding close to his chest had finally faded out, Aiichirou could actually attempt to organize his train of thoughts.

“.....This should be it.” He mumbled under his breath, blue hues glacing up at the household he’d stopped in front of. The addresses clearly matched so he wasted no time in walking up the stairs and pressing the door bell.

Two a.m.

And then he waited, hoping that the person who came would be the one familiar figure living under that roof.

Although swimming had always taken over a good part of Aiichirou’s schedule, it’d never had any sort of bad influence on his studies. Ai was in fact quite the quick learner which made it pretty easy for him to keep up with everything. Well, until it came to English. He didn’t dislike it but... he had recently come to the irrefutable conclusion that foreign languages just weren’t his thing. It was as simple as that.

A sigh gave away the boy’s dejection as he let his forehead fall on top of the crinkled pages scattered all over his bunk. It was hopeless. But there was still one option left. And, with that thought in mind, the teen leaned over the bed’s edge, throwing an upside-down glance at his possibly-already-asleep roommate.

“Ne, Rin-senpai, are you still awake?” He whispered quietly, just in case the other male wasn’t.

“ The rain’s... not getting any better, is it?...” He murmured while glancing up at the sky-- its color was almost matching the tint of Ai’s hair. Well, there was obviously no way that he could get back to the academy through such a weather; or at least not without getting drenched in the proccess.

Dropping the bag of groceries next to his feet, Aiichirou let out a sigh and leaned back against the wall. Without an umbrella, the only thing he could do was wait... and, unluckily enough, the convenience store under which’s shelter he was stuck didn’t seem to sell such things.

But then he suddenly noticed a familiar figure walking past him and his manners instantly kicked in.

“ Ah, Nanase-san, good afternoon.” He greeted. “ I didn’t expect to run into you here--...? ” Eh? Something in the way the brunette’s eyes were looking at him after he’d turned around didn’t feel quite right... but Ai quickly pushed the thought away and offered a polite smile.

“ Have you also gotten caught off guard by the rain? “

Cheating. It had to be cheating.

But even though Ai kept repeating that sentence over and over again in his head, he actually knew that the blonde would probably never do that. Sure, Nagisa was competitive-- probably one of the most competitive individuals he’d ever met in his entire life, especially when it came to video games-- but he didn’t seem like the type to win by breaking the rules.

Let’s go to the arcade, he said. It’ll be fun, he said.

“ This is ridiculous... “ Aiichirou was only this far away from begining to pout. He couldn’t even remember how many games they’d played together during the past few hours but he had surely kept count of his wins; and they were zero.

“ You are ridiculous. ”
