Good Afternoon Insta Family, My name is Supreme-Intelligence Coles and two years ago me and my business partner Travis Williford (@Yngwinner._) and I was introduced to something that would eventually grant us time and financial freedom, Foreign Exchange (Forex). In the parody ‘Studs Be Like’, there is multiple examples of how girls act when their gender expression is more masculine than feminine (Butch). In the first scene they show how some woman or lesbians who use the word bro a lot greet their peers or associates. In the second skit it shows the importance of being discrete when ‘Butches’ go out buying monthly products. In the third skit, it shows the irony of two lesbian women having a conversation about being virgins.

I currently work at the YMCA in Towson. Specifically, i work in the Stay & Play department where we watch the children while there parents are either working out or taking a class. The age group ranges from 6 weeks to 12 years old. working here i come across so many different people and personalities. I chose to take notes while observing the kids and how my co workers interacted with the kids. while doing so, i noticed that kids are extremely smart. For example, a kid taught me what a kentrosaurus was. Apparently they were “Large Herbivores” and they grew to be 6000 lbs. Surprisingly, that is same verbiage used to describe the dinosaur to me. I also noticed that kids have an impeccable memory. Every now and then a kid will bring something to my attention that i said to him/her weeks prior. answers to questions like “what i had for breakfast ?” or “ What i did yesterday ?”. of course i don’t remember these everyday incidents weeks after they happen but somehow the kids at my job have a mental memory journal that they never loose track of. One thing i noticed in this setting of mostly Caucasian kids, is how unknowingly offensive they can be. Some kids come in and say things like “ I spy something black “  or “ why are you brown ? “. Of course they mean nothing by it, however, some comments are clearly reactions to what they have heard at home.

After reading the article and watching the video about Italian gestures, i have developed a greater awareness of the role of gestures in communication. After taking notes throughout todays interactions with people i have noticed about several hand gestures that my professors, my friends and i use to communicate with each other. 

Thumbs up: 

In college some classes are very big and require hand gestures for the professors and students to communicate from across the room. I have noticed that my professors tend to use a thumbs up to ask if everything is ok. They also use it to tell students when they have done a good job. Often times a thumbs up is used when a good question is asked or if the class looks totally confused. 

Gang Signs: 

Although a lot of my friends are college students, that doesn't change fact that they had to survive before college and still have to survive while attending college. with that being said, some of them became involved with gangs at young ages to have some sort of “back up” and “support” if it wasn't coming from home. Growing up and still today while taking notes i noticed that some of my friends use gang symbols to communicate with each other or even people they don’t know. if they see a person with a familiar tattoo or clothes they will use gang gestures to either greet or offend that person. 

Placing my fist on my chest: 

Growing up i was fortunate enough to be around people that love and care for each other very much. My uncles and older brothers would do things like give extra tight hugs, or place their fist upon their chest after giving someone dap. i took on these love giving gestures and held on to them throughout my life. I always place my fist on my heart after speaking to a brother or sister of any kind just to remind them and myself that love is love. This is a gesture that i use to let people know i got love for them.
