In September 1941 German aviation carried out three raids on forts and ships along Kronstadt’s coastline and the island of Kotlin. In those days, all the piers of the Marine Plant and Kronstadt were filled with a great variety of ships. And the enemy aimed at these places first of all.

These sailors died under a massive airstrike. Their bodies were evermore drowned into the waters of the Gulf of Finland, and their names were engraved on the walls of St. Nicholas Naval Cathedral.
