“Really? It’s so small compared to court. I’m use to something so much bigger, but it’s home for now.” Blushing a soft pink at him catching the name of her cat, she nodded. “Yeah..his name’s Brady. Isn’t he cute?” She asked him, looking over at the dog before shrugging. “That’s fine. Jessica will clean up after him and take him out if we get distracted.”

Brady nodded, moving to sit by her. “He is. But, what exactly could we be distracted by?” He asked, raising an eyebrow again.

“It’s rather small from what i’m used to, but I like it.” She agreed as she placed their things on the coffee table in the living room. “Well hello there, Brady..how’s my boy?” She asked as she sat in front of him, pressing a kiss to his head. “You can let him off his leash, hon.”

“This is like... 4 of my apartments. Or more.” He raised an eyebrow at the name before taking off Toothless’s leash. “Did you... Is your cat named Brady?” He asked, looking at them and then down at his small dog. “I hope he doesn’t pee everywhere. Potty training is hard.”

Taking the smaller bags from Brady, Mary walked the short distance to the house her and Bash picked out the day her husband died. “It’s just over here.” SHe said as she opened the door for her guests.

“Woah.... This is pretty nice...” He commented, looking around as he walked inside. “Isn’t it buddy?” He asked the small, dog smiling down at him.

“Well, we could go back to my place? It’s not much, but it’s home.” She wasn’t sure how comfortable she would feel going to a place where him and his girlfriend lived together, so this was the closest thing she could think of.

Brady nodded, grabbing the bags before picking Toothless up. “Lead the way.”

“I hope you’re aware that just saying that is you declaring you still love me. Besides–I think it’s cute. I mean..I fell for you in a build a bear shop.” Watching him put the dog down, Mary glanced over, spotting the caps she was looking for. “I’m ready.” She smiled, holding out her hand for him to take it.

Brady rolled his eyes, grabbing the dog food and a few toys, his hand that was holding the leash now holding hers as well as they walked to the register, him paying for everything. “Where to?”

Smiling into the kiss as he wrapped his arm around her, Mary wrapped her own arm around him. “That was for..well being you. For still being the man i’m in love with.”

“I refuse to declare my love for you in a pet store. It’s not very romantic.” He pointed out, setting Toothless on the ground and holding his leash. “So how about we both get what we need and then go elsewhere?”

“Then I really hope you can forgive me for this, but it’s just something I need to do..for myself more than anything.” She said as she bravely reached up, and kissed him softly on his lips. Giving him enough space to pull away if he wanted to, not that she wanted that to happen.

Brady returned the kiss, wrapping his free arm around her waist- being mindful of toothless of course. “What was that for?”

“Well what does this mean for us now? Do you want to give this friendship thing a try?” She asked him as she bit at her lip. Smirking at her title, she shook her head. Queen of England. I told you it’s my rightful place. Since I’m the direct decent and all.“

"I don't know. I mean, we've never really been friends. There's always been more. I'm not sure how being just friends would work out." Brady admitted with a shrug. "Rightful place, of course."

“I’m sorry for what I said to you..about us not being friends. I didn’t mean it. Truthfully, it meant a lot that you set aside your time to help me adjust to this time. So thank you.”

Brady looked back at her, shaking his head. “I wanted to. You don’t have to thank me for that. And like I said- we can’t change anything that happened. Don’t worry about it, Mary. I mean- Mary Queen of Scots. Since you are queen again.”

“I suppose not. You and I both chose someone else, that’s just something we have to live with.”

“Exactly.” He stated simply, petting the small puppy in his arms.

“I shouldn’t of had to fight for you. All my life, i’ve been fighting for people, I didn’t want to have to go through that again. You wanted her, you left me for her. I figured if you loved me enough, you would of stayed on your own. I didn’t want to make you stay with me, if it meant you had to give up someone you loved. Besides..Francis made it clear how much he wanted  me back. He fought for me for a change. So I settled.”

“Well it doesn’t really matter now, does it? It’s not like we can do anything about what happened now.”

“I did tell you that. I told you how much I wanted to be with you. I was leaving my husband for you. How does that now show you just how much you mean to me?”

“You just gave up though.” Brady replied, looking down. “Like you were just letting her have me. I told you I wanted her but if you would have tried even a little to convince me otherwise I would have chosen you.”

“Yeah..it was the whole reason it hurt so badly when you left me. I felt betrayed..like I just didn’t matter to you, other that someone to sleep with.”

“How come you never told me that? You didn’t even try to get me to stay. It’s like you didn’t really care who I chose.”

“Really? I didn’t really think you would miss me after everything…”

“I–I missed you too, Brady. I needed to get away for a while. I snuck away in an attempt to get my mind back on track. After the loss and everything.”

Brady took the small puppy after setting down the food. “It’s okay Mary.. Since when did you go back to Scotland though? Don’t they all think you’re dead? And your husband? Sorry about him, by the way…”

Smirking at the mention of her homeland, she shook her head. “You haven’t been keeping up with the news, have you? Since i’m not dead, I still have my rightful title to the thrown. Before he died..Frances and I came out of hiding. I took what is rightfully mine.” Playing with her wedding band that hung next to her husbands on a chain around her neck, she smiled. “Don’t be. He left me right where he wanted me to be. Safe..in power.”
