No I’m not too old to play with Lego.... not according to the box anyway.
Somewhere between school and growing up I lost touch with my love of Lego. Over the summer, I found a “Maersk Container Vessel” Lego set that my aunt had started to build years ago and never finished. With her permission I took apart the quarter of the boat that she had constructed and started from scratch. 12 hours and 1500 bricks later my masterpiece stood proudly at the centre of the dining room table and I was in a state of childish glee that I hadn’t felt for years.
For my 18th birthday and for Christmas the only thing that I asked for was Lego sets. My parents were confused and wanted to know why I did want something typical that "normal 18 year olds" would ask for. I explained to them that Lego was the perfect gift for me, I could follow the step by step instructions and create awesome monuments or I could let my imagination run wild and create new, unique, structures that are entirely mine. I honestly did not believe that anything else would have been more entertaining.
I love Lego and I especially love how unconventional it is for me to love Lego. Undoubtedly the best part of my last Christmas before university was the Lego Shuttle Adventure Space rocket that Santa brought me.
