I have always loved to write. I'm not very good at it, but it was always a great way for me to "let it all out". When I was much younger, I had a diary. My diary was a steno pad that I wrote in every single night before I went to bed. The large drawer in my desk was full of steno pads I had filled up by the time I got married and moved away. A year or so later, I went home and I was shocked to find the large drawer was empty. Completely, empty. When I asked my mother what had happened to my notebooks she replied, "I threw those old notebooks from school away. I figured you didn't need old school books." I was so upset. How could she just throw them away like that without asking me? I felt like I had lost a best friend. My diary had been through so many things with me. My first school dance. My first kiss. Fights I had gotten into with my best friends. Fights I had gotten into with my mother. It was all gone. Over the years, I have tried to start writing in a diary again. I bought a steno pad, but that only lasted about a week. I bought a really pretty journal to write in, but that only lasted a few weeks. I even signed up for a blog. I think that lasted a few months. It's not that I don't have anything to say. I have a lot to say. Maybe too much sometimes. I just don't have the time. I know. I should make the time. It's something I enjoy and I always feel better when I write things down. It's been many years since I last wrote in a steno pad. I've been married a couple of times and I have children of my own. Life has thrown me a couple of curve balls and while I didn't have a diary, there were a few times that I just grabbed a piece of paper and started writing. Once I was done, I would read it and then I would throw it away. I have been thinking more and more about writing lately. I don't have a particular subject I want to write about so I thought I would just write about my life. This blog can be like my diary.
