"I'm going to go. And I'm going to get the one of two people that care about me in this world."
+bonus edit just for me
post: I noticed that in act 1 there's a loaded gun mounted on the wall there. I bet by the end of act 2 it will have been fired
all the replies: you're a fucking idiot
*after act 2*
all the replies: how the fuck did you know that
okay but we can't know for sure that the loud noise and bright flash offstage—which occurred after the character who was holding the gun exited the stage with it—was a gunshot, because we didn't get to directly see it

CRITICAL ROLE 4.31 Trick of the Light
So different, yet kindred all the same pt.2
Occtis didnt cry when he learned about his family's plans for him
Occtis just went to that secret place inside of him where he goes when everything goes bad
But the moment he saw Thimble again - boom
He breaks down despite not being able to cry anymore, he doesnt have the psychosomatic symptoms of sadness - no heartbeat, no brain chemicals, its all just his magic
His relief and his gratitude for seeing Thimble again superceded the Hollow part of him so he could breakdown like anyone else
He loved Thimble so much that he could believe, for a single moment, that he was alive enough to cry
Occtis had such a horrible time this episode and I feel so bad for him. I thought Alex did a great job acting out the agonizing pain (and resulting fear) when the Stone of Nightsong was destroyed and making it look so visceral. Occtis fully believes that only two people care about him and Julien didn't correct him (even if Julien's behaviour implied otherwise). He watched his father murder Hannan and violently threaten his aunt and started having a very understandable freak out but he hardly had time to process any of it because he needed to get away from his family before he, too, risked meeting the same fate. I loved how Alex continued acting out Occtis sitting slumped in a chair, at low HP, still reeling and in pain from the fight and the destruction of the Stone. And then Vaelus admitting she didn't consider what might happen to Occtis before she smashed the Stone of Nightsong, even if it probably wouldn't have changed her decision. I'm so glad Occtis got to properly hug Thimble and got a moment with Thaisha near the end but man I just felt so awful for him this entire episode.
the late realization that Thjazi only started trying to kill Julien as soon as they left Lady Aranessa is so funny. Man fuck this guy, bring me back to my wife.
I honestly feel like the proliferation of LED headlights was the canary in the coalmine for the general attitude we see in the political climate these days and i'm not even remotely kidding
Very much in line with the attitude of "this choice will marginally improve the way I move through the world and make everyone else's experience SIGNIFICANTLY worse, but I don't really care, based simply on the fact that I am allowed to do it and there's nothing they can or will do to stop me" ya feel me?
pick up that non-fiction book
not all of us can live in fantasy 100% the time like i see some people on here do and it's refreshing to learn something new. its been philosophy, essays, and history for me and i feel much more at home on planet Earth for it knowing that people have been struggling and wishing similarly for millenia.
its not that fiction doesnt have its place, its important and healthy to exercise the imagination, but non-fiction can do so much to boost and supplement that. if not for yourself, for your art or for the people you're around
"representation matters!" but you wont read or engage with non-fiction works about any demographic outside your own
this version of the post doesnt seem to be getting much traction but this is arguably the most important reason why we should be reading nonfiction in addition to fiction
Stamp of approval
