Thinking about Brother Bear and how much I love the complexity of love in that movie.
How love is both the main character and the antagonist, and how it drives the plot from the beginning. Sitka wouldn't have died if he hadn't loved Kenai because he wouldn't have gone to save him. Koda's mother wouldn't have died if she hadn't loved Koda and wanted to protect him at any cost or if Kenai hadn't loved his oldest brother. Kenai and Koda wouldn't have had to worry about a hunter pursuing them if Denahi didn't love his little brother.
Love is the antagonist since it's Kenai and Denahi's love for their brothers who make them want revenge and it's what at the same time drives them away from their loved ones (Kenai in Denahi's case and Koda in Kenai's one).
But at the same time, love is the main character since it develops and changes from the beginning to the end along with the characters. You see how it's love what helps them grow, mostly on Kenai's case.
The movie doesn't work if the characters didn't care deeply about each other since familial love is the core of the movie and I'm obsessed with that.

↳ Brother Bear ( 2 0 0 3 )
Brother Bear is an underrated Disney movie that deconstructs masculinity and tells men and boys that being over aggressive, vengeful, and hateful is not what makes you a man…andthat being kind, compassionate and caring for fellow humans, animals and nature as well is what makes you, not only a man, but a human.
