Hold fast. Brave the storm
Ridley writing Kingdom Keepers inheritance:
Finn: He was your normal 40 year old man. Pretty normal, typical and plain. Nothing too extravagant.
Amanda: SHE LOOKED AS SHE DID 20 YEARS AGO WOW!!! SUCH BEAUTY!!! AND INTELLIGENCE!!!! THE MOST INTERESTING PERSON!!!
P.s just jokes I adore them both
When Charlene and Willa were lost on castaway cay
Willa: we need to identify the direction the wind is blowing
Willa: and whether it's a sea breeze or land breeze
Willa: look at the direction the plants are leaning. we need to go in the opposite
Willa: the wind blows in from the ocean on one end of the island but blows coming inland on the other
Willa: but the wind always changes direction during the afternoon
Willa: how long are the shadows of the plants?
Charlene: hey
Willa: what angle are they in?
Charlene: hey willa
Charlene: willa
Charlene: why don't we just look over the trees for the boat?
Willa: *ship
Do you think that Wayne chose the Keepers because he remembered them from 1955? Like, it’s been literally over fifty years, but Wayne Kresky still remembers those five kids who he met all those years ago. And then he sees them again for the first time in fifty years at the audition. And though they look younger, Wayne recognizes them immediately and knows which kids need to be chosen for the DHIs. And then Finn shows up in the Magic Kingdom for the first time ever, and it’s just him and Wayne. And after Wayne’s explained everything to Finn he just wants to reminisce on those crazy times they had back in 1955, but can’t, because then Finn would think he was even more insane than he already believed him to be. How hard do you think it was for Wayne to suppress all that nostalgia, because it technically hadn’t happened yet?
Oh, look. I made myself sad again.
That’s why Wayne always seemed to know so much about them when in reality he had not spent much time with them in the present day. He had so much faith that they could solve his riddles because he had seen them solve them before
You made this better.
Philby: *is showering*
Maybeck: *yanks back shower curtain*
Maybeck: Are we -- stop screaming it's just me -- are we crossing over tonight?
Amanda: You don't think I can fight because I'm a girl.
Finn: I don't think you can fight because you're wearing a wedding dress. For what it's worth, I don't think Maybeck could fight in that dress either.
Maybeck: Perhaps not, but I would make a radiant bride.
Jess vs. Amanda
Charlene at 14 years old: Pretty
Charlene at 18 years old: Bitchin’

Maybeck: Rules were made to be broken.
Philby: They were made to be followed. Nothing is made to be broken.
Charlene: Uh, piñatas?
Willa: Glow sticks.
Amanda: Karate boards.
Finn: Spaghetti noodles when you have a small pot.
Maybeck: And rules.
Joe Garlington: What’s your blood type?
Willa: I don’t know.
Philby: You don’t know your own blood type?
Willa: Who am I? Karl Landsteiner, discoverer of blood groups?
Philby: So you don’t know your own blood type, but you know who created them?
Finn: Do you take constructive criticism?
Maybeck: I only take cash or credit.
Willa: Truth or dare?
Finn: Truth.
Willa: How many hours have you slept this week?
Finn: Dare.
Willa: I dare you to go to sleep.
Finn: I don’t like this game.

Kingdom Keepers aesthetics: Finn Whitman
“Of course I am,” Wayne said. “You see? I knew you were the right one. You’re the leader, Finn.”
I don’t understand why so many people think Charlene is a one dimensional character. I feel like she has had as much (if not more) character development than some of the other keepers???
She started out as being pretty insecure with herself and not really knowing where she fit in with the others. She’s smart but was still degraded to “the pretty one” by everyone: her peers, Disney, the imagineers, etc. She was pretty scared in the beginning (as they all were) but through books 1-3 she found her confidence. She found that she liked sports and being the dare devil. She was the one willing to step up to do the stuff the others couldn’t or were too afraid to do. She became confident in her abilities and then became confident in her character. She became a girl who figured out what she wanted and wasn’t afraid to go out and get it.
This carried on into her friendship with Finn too. Even though Finn didn’t reciprocate her feelings, she was honest and upfront about who she was and what she wanted, which the other Keepers also valued in her. In the Insider, Finn felt that he could be open and honest with her despite how harsh the truth always is. She doesn’t need things dumbed down, just give her the facts.
Charlene also grew through her beef with Amanda. They were both pretty childish and jealous over Finn (but that’s to be expected from two teenaged girls). She matured by the end of shell game and by recognizing that Finn didn’t feel the same way about her that she felt about him, so she backed off and respected Finn and Amanda to preserve her friendships with both of them. She still always has a soft spot for Finn, but she doesn’t make anymore waves.
She also became more confident in her femininity. In Dark Passage, she was quite surprised that Finn found her pretty, even though she had always been told so by others. Then of we look later in Legacy of Secretes, she defends her plan by and exasperated “I’m pretty, Finn”. She just owns it’s. She doesn’t see her beauty as a burden to her character now. She knows that she’s more than that, but it’s still something of an asset. She uses her beauty to her advantage a lot in The Return especially while still respecting herself.
I applaud Ridley for writing a female character that is strong and independent without making her less feminine. She is girly, likes pink and makeup, but will punch you in the face and stand up for her friends.
Thank you for reading my really post lol
