Reasons to love Ruoruo

Let me number (just a few!) of the ways...

1.She’s lowkey always trolling her little brother, saying things like “well if our big brother is going to sell me, he’ll def have a good reason” with a straight face. Doesn’t break once.

1b. Does anyone else remember the first Fan family dinner in Jingdu, when Sizhe asks her why Fan Xian and their stepmother are all buddy buddy suddenly, and she just comes out with “well they had a good talk and our brother thinks your mother tried to kill him so they’re working that out”. Again. Stone faced.

2. She is absolutely, always down to fuck things up, no matter if this means she pays an unchaperoned visit to the crown prince or using her photographic memory to give her brother a map of the palace corridors. She will go visit a brothel in disguise with her brother, social norms be damned (no one ask where she got the perfectly fitted men’s clothing from. I choose to believe that Ruoruo has been getting up to plenty of shenanigans on her own before Fan Xian came up from Danzhou).

3. Jokes aside, she and Fan Xian are their honest selves with each other. At one point, she’s literally like “[bitch] I’m not going to marry you. I have no reason to lie.” They’re talking about not telling the truth about Lin Gong’s death to Lin Wan’r, Fan Xian’s fiancee. I’m not saying that either Fan Xian or Fan Ruoruo’s moral compasses are pointing due north at all times, but at the very least they keep it real. It’s probably the best sibling relationship on the show, and I’m counting the snarky faces 2nd prince and CP make at each other behind people’s backs AND the Lin siblings.
