SAMURAI BRAVO WEEK DAY 7: CONFESSION
DAY 5: MOVIE | PROMISE
Jack promised him to go with him on theaters
SMBR WEEK Day 4: Affection | Childhood AU
I knew Johnny for a long time.
When we were kids, he always visited my family’s house, and we spent hours playing together. We didn’t go to the same school, and we didn’t really share the same hobbies or friends either. Still, I liked being around him. Even just talking with him felt fun.
And honestly…
I liked watching him more than I wanted to admit.
One evening, Johnny suddenly asked me to meet him at the park.
When I arrived, he was nervously looking around.
“Hey, Johnny.”
“AAAHH!!”
He nearly jumped out of his skin when he saw me.
“J-Jack! Don’t scare me like that!”
“I didn’t. I’m right on time.”
“Whatever! You almost gave me a heart attack!”
Jack sighed. “So why did you drag me out here?”
Johnny scratched the back of his head.
“Okay… I’m just gonna be honest with you.” Johnny comes forward toward Jack
“Hm?”
“I’m really bad with ghosts and spirits.”
“That’s surprising.”
“At school, everyone makes fun of me for it.” He looked away.
“They think I’m some crybaby who wets his pants.”
“I see…”
I couldn’t really imagine Johnny getting bullied. He was loud, dramatic, and always full of energy.
But maybe that was why people picked on him.
Johnny suddenly puffed out his chest.
“So! I’m gonna prove I’m not scared anymore!”
The moon was already setting behind the trees.
“It’s getting dark,” Jack said.
“Let’s go then.”
Johnny nodded and started walking ahead before suddenly slowing down.
“Hey, Johnny, Why did you ask me to come with you “
“Well...You're an awesome person to hang with....Like a Samurai who could protect me!“
“Huh?”
“You’ve got that sword thingy right?.”
“You didn’t tell me to bring my wooden sword.”
“Dang it.”
A sudden gust of wind rushed through the cave.
“HWAH?! What was that?!”
“It’s just the wind, Johnny.”
Still, he moved closer to me.
I secretly didn’t mind.
I wanted to spend more time with him.
I really did.
Johnny and Jack eventually reached the cave hidden behind the park trail. Cold air drifted out from inside.
Johnny immediately froze.
U-Uh… maybe we should go home.” Johnny said nervously
“It doesn’t look that deep,” Jack said. “There’s even a resting spot inside. This place is probably safe.”
“But what if-”
“We came all this way already.”
Johnny swallowed hard.
“Y-Yeah… you’re right.”
We stepped more inside together.
Drip. Drip.
The cave echoed quietly around us.
“Jack…” Johnny whispered. “I’ve got a really bad feeling.”
“You’re overthinking it.”
Honestly, I didn’t believe in ghosts at all.
Still… I loved myths and ghost stories, so the atmosphere was kind of exciting.
Then Johnny suddenly grabbed jack sleeve.
“J-J-Jack… I can’t move!”
“It’s okay. Just hold onto me.”
“I SAID I CAN’T MOVE!!” Johnny's legs trembled violently.
Johnny was the kind of person who could scare himself so badly that his imagination became real to him.
We shouldn’t have come here!” he cried. “I’m such an idiot-
NO, WAIT! I’m NOT an idiot! This is obviously the work of an evil spirit!!”
“Johnny, calm down.”
“WE’RE GONNA DIE!!”
Even while panicking, he somehow looked… cute.
Johnny grabbed my hands tightly.
“Jack… I’ll sacrifice myself. You run away and get help!”
“No. I’m not leaving you.”
I couldn’t.
Not before I told him how I felt.
“YES YOU ARE!! SAVE YOURSELF!”
He squeezed my hands even tighter.
That was it.
I couldn’t hold it in anymore.
I grabbed Johnny’s face and kissed him on the cheek.
Johnny froze instantly.
“Wh…?”
His face turned bright red.
“What did you just do to me?!”
Crap.
He didn’t even know what that meant.
jack brain panicked.
"Uh that was my special exorcism technique!”
“Huh?”
“I shared some of my spiritual power with you. To protect you from evil spirits.”
Johnny’s eyes widened.
“YOU CAN DO THAT?!”
“Y-Yeah. But it’s a secret, so don’t tell anyone.”
“O-Okay…”
Then Johnny blinked.
“Woah mama!”
He slowly moved his legs.
“I can move again!!”
He suddenly burst into laughter.
“That’s SO COOL!!”
“I think the evil spirits are staying away from you now..” I said, trying to keep a straight face.
“You’re amazing, Jack!”
Johnny happily skipped ahead through the cave.
“Look! Even this tiny spider doesn’t scare me anymore!”
I watched him laugh and run around excitedly.
…He really was kind of stupid.
And yet…
I smiled quietly to myself.
Maybe I lied to him.
But it was a white lie.
I couldn’t exorcise spirits.
Only his fear.
What I really should’ve said…
…was that I liked him.
DAY 4: CHILDHOOD AU
DAY 3: LANGUAGE
The apartment was unusually quiet.
Not peaceful quiet.
Tense quiet.
The kind that settled after an argument had already started but neither person wanted to admit they were actually upset.
Johnny stood near the kitchen counter with his arms folded tightly across his chest, sunglasses still on despite being indoors.
Which was always a bad sign.
Jack stood across from him, visibly confused.
“…I still do not understand why you are angry.”
Johnny immediately pointed at him.
“Oh, REALLY?”
Jack blinked once.
“Yes.”
“That’s the problem!”
Jack’s eyebrows pulled together slightly.
Johnny groaned dramatically before turning away for a second, running a hand through his hair.
“This is exactly what I mean, man!”
“You are speaking very loudly.”
“Because I’m frustrated!”
Jack stared at him carefully.
“…Over a conversation?”
Johnny spun back toward him.
“A conversation I couldn’t understand!”
Jack paused.
Then realization slowly crossed his face.
“…Ah.”
“YEAH, ‘AH.’”
Johnny pointed accusingly again.
“You and that guy were standing there talking in Japanese for like twenty minutes!”
“…She.”
Johnny froze.
“…What?”
“That was a woman.”
A dangerous silence followed.
Johnny lowered his hand slowly.
“…Okay, wow. That somehow made it worse.”
Jack looked genuinely baffled now.
“There was nothing inappropriate about the conversation.”
“How would I know?!”
Johnny gestured wildly.
“I don’t speak Japanese, Jack!”
Jack opened his mouth—
Then closed it again.
Because honestly…
That was fair.
Johnny exhaled sharply through his nose.
“You were laughing and talking and I’m just standing there like some idiot trying to figure out if you’re discussing ancient philosophy or planning to dump me.”
Jack’s expression softened slightly at that.
“…Johnny.”
“What?”
“She was an old classmate.”
Johnny crossed his arms tighter.
“…Uh huh.”
“She asked about my travels.”
“…Uh huh.”
“And whether you were truly as loud as I described.”
Johnny paused.
“…What?”
A faint pause.
Then—
“…I said yes.”
Johnny stared at him.
Jack remained perfectly serious.
Johnny’s eye twitched.
“You’re unbelievable.”
“And yet you are still here.”
“That’s not the point!”
Jack stepped closer carefully.
The frustration in Johnny’s posture remained, but underneath it—
There was something smaller.
Something quieter.
Hurt.
“…You felt excluded,” Jack said finally.
Johnny looked away immediately.
“…Maybe.”
Jack watched him silently for a moment.
Then:
“…I apologize.”
Johnny blinked.
That was unexpectedly fast.
Jack continued calmly.
“I did not realize it would upset you.”
Johnny’s shoulders loosened slightly.
“…It wasn’t just that.”
Jack waited.
Johnny rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly.
“I dunno, man.” His voice dropped quieter. “You looked… comfortable.”
Jack tilted his head slightly.
“I was.”
Johnny frowned immediately.
“Wow. Cool. Awesome. Great—”
“With an old friend,” Jack interrupted gently.
Johnny stopped talking.
Jack stepped closer again.
“…Not more comfortable than I am with you.”
Silence.
Johnny stared at him.
Jack’s expression remained calm, but softer now.
“…You are important to me,” he said quietly. “In every language.”
Johnny froze completely.
Then immediately looked away.
“…Okay, see, now that’s not fair.”
Jack blinked.
“What is not fair?”
“You can’t just say stuff like that when I’m trying to stay mad at you.”
For the first time that evening—
Jack smiled.
Small.
Subtle.
But undeniably amused.
Johnny pointed at him dramatically.
“Oh, don’t do that little smile thing either. I’m serious.”
“…You are very jealous for someone who claims confidence.”
Johnny scoffed loudly.
“I am confident.”
A pause.
“…I’m just also emotionally dramatic.”
“…That,” Jack admitted quietly, “is true.”
Johnny narrowed his eyes.
“…Rude.”
But he still moved closer anyway.
