The gun kicks back into Kathryn's hands, her palms tingling. At her shout of triumph, Arthur looks over, eyes shaded beneath the brim of his hat. Wordless, Kathryn points proudly at the bullet hole in the dead centre of the tree trunk she'd been aiming at. He grins, just as proud, and goes back to his packing.

She takes another couple of shots, just to prove to herself it wasn't a fluke, and can't help the vicious little roll of satisfaction that thrums through her when each hits bare centimetres from her first shot. Maybe she isn't so helpless now. Maybe she could be some good in a fight.
