recently on twt i saw some debate about "casual EGL" and how, apparently, EGL is by it's nature not casual. at that point i was already kind of annoyed, but then someone in the qrt's said something to the tone of "you wanna say ur alt but also be casual???? 🙄" and i kinda lost it.

this is exactly what i hate about the current aesthetification of subculture. you're suddenly fake alternative because you, what, dont put on a 200€+ outfit everytime you leave the house? is that all that it's about for you? does the alternative spirit live exclusively in your wardrobe?

coming back to the original topic though... you can wear EGL casually. not everything needs to be sweet OTT. being casual doesn't mean you abandon your entire style, it means prioritizing comfort, which you can ABSOLUTELY do, no matter what subculture or style you count yourself a member of. and you can still look good too, if you actually know what youre doing and dont rely on brand to make yourself look semi-coherent <3
