sorry i haven’t been around! I’m dealing w/ a few health issues and sometimes the motivation to do stuff just isn’t there. I’m at my dads for the day watching my fav doges so i’m gonna go try and knock out my replies. if anyone wants to plot!!!! pls let me know. i love plots. they make me gidDy
“—Did anyone see the asshole belting Queen at the top of their lungs just a few minutes ago? I’m beginning to think that preserving my ears is going to be null very soon, with the fucking talent that’s going on around here I won’t even be able to keep down my coffee. I don’t know why anyone genuinely thought this was a good idea.”
“at least they’re trying. But I will admit I did purchase my daughter ear plugs last night.” as she spoke of her daughter, her gaze traveled over to the little girl who was currently stuffing her face with popcorn, settled into a chair watching people make fools of themselves.
“University is the best experience in world. If you ignore all the stress, the bunch of work and responsibilities. And how expensive it is if you don’t have a scholarship. It is definitely a good idea, I totally support you going to college when Paige’s older. Of course that now you’ve got to take care of her, and if you need any help, you know I only work at night.” Jeremy offered. “And I’m very willing to hear her. This teddy need to chill, then. I bet 5 dollars she’ll make me talk to him, though.” He followed Katrina to her car, laughing along with her. “It is a great feeling. We should definitely have more conversations on how coffee is awesome to bitch over who disagrees.”
“Thank you -- its good to know I’ll have some support.” she pulled her keys from her purse and unlocked the car, slipping into the drivers seat and pausing to move a bunch of paige’s stuff into the backseat that had taken up residence in the front. “I can’t thank you enough for helping out when you can -- and you’re so good with her, she adores you.” each day she found herself more and more pleased with her choice of settling here. “Oh -- I won’t take that bet, because I know she will. You’re the law! You always put those toys in their place.” Once he’d gotten in and buckled himself off, she pulled out of the parking lot and headed for the daycare center. “We should! Feel free to come into work any time and I can point out all the decaf drinkers -- we’ll tear ‘em apart.”
“That’s actually the thing I miss the most about being away from here. Back in university, big town and stuff, people don’t talk about you, actually, they couldn’t care less, which is kind of a good idea. But I stand by my statement that you shouldn’t care.” Jeremy shrugged. “Yeah, I’d love to! Me and her have some catch up to do on her toys lives.” He laughed. “That’s exactly what I think. See, that’s why you’re my friend, Kat, you understand.”
“Sometimes I miss the fact that I never got to go to university, but I like where I am in life -- maybe when Paige is older I can look into taking some online courses before or after work. But for now, I’m gonna just concentrate on her.” she chuckled, “I’m working on the not caring part, maybe you can help me out on that.” her smile widened at his agreement and she stepped back, moving towards her car. “Oh, she has so much to tell you. She got a new teddy bear recently -- he’s been stirring up quite a bit of trouble, it seems.” another laugh, “My cars just around the corner.” she stuffed her hands into her pockets as she started to walk. “It’s nice to have people who understand, ain’t it? Glad we connect on that level.”
“I wouldn’t judge if you did, but I’d totally think you’re kinda slow. Thank you! I don’t know how I’d look without it. I’ve been dying since I was 14, I don’t even remember my natural hair color.”
“I thought about dying my hair once, but the upkeep was just too much -- and I barely have time to myself, let alone spend an hour or so at a salon getting my roots done.”
CJ followed the girl over to the table where he saw a little girl drawing on some napkins. He couldn’t help but smile when the small girl hugged his legs. “You are very welcome Paige.” He said softly before bending down so that he was at her height. “Your drawings are very good.” CJ said with a smile.
she couldn’t help the bright smile that stretched across her lips as she watched the two of them. ‘Yeah? Mommy says I could -- i can be an artist! I think that would be so much fun.’ katerina chuckled, arms crossing over her chest as she took a seat at the edge of the booth. “Oh, yes -- the best in the world. But she’s gotta do good in school, right sweetheart.” Paige made a gross face, but mumbled a ‘yes, mommy’.
’ hey, i know that it’s not your birthday or anything, but I got you a present. ’
“me? why would you do that -- you don’t need’a get me anything..”
“So do we really just rot in the ground when we die, or do we get to see our statistics? I mean, I’d like to know how many ants I’ve stepped on or how many dicks I’ve sucked in my lifetime “
“Oh that -- well, I’m not sure. I’m not really sure i’d want to know how many ants i’ve stepped on or -- well, the rest of that. Jeeze, how many of ya’ll gotta be thinkin’ about such morbid stuff like death?”
“Oh, c’mon, you stop yourself from eating the much you want because of judgy looks? If I cared about these things, I’d never do anything. How’s Paige, anyway? It’s been a while since the last time I saw her around.” Jeremy shrugged. “Well, there are some horrible people who actually like that thing, so I won’t judge your boss.”
“I know it’s dumb, but I get judged for having a daughter already, no need to give them more to talk about, ya know? Oh, she’s good! I gotta pick her up from daycare in about half an hour -- you wanna come with and say hi? I bet she’d love to see you.” she chuckled, brushing some hair out of her face. “I can’t understand that -- if you don’t want caffeine, why not try tea? tastes better. people are strange.”
“I know, – wait, did you think my hair is natural? Thank you, it takes some time, but I believe it’s worth it.”
“Me? No -- no, I know the natural hair colors, unlike some people, apparently. Oh, it really looks good on you! Sometimes people don’t really know what they’re gonna look good with, but you’re on point.”
He watched the two of them for a moment, the way Kat’s voice was soft with the little girl, and carefully brushed strands of hair out of her face. He was hit with a hurt, he didn’t want to keep being without that - without something. The girl made her way upstairs, and with the evident click he nodded and followed the other into the kitchen. He walks just a pace behind her, and sigh out slowly, “what’s her name?” He’s asking because that was the first question that entered his mind, but the second thought wasn’t as calming. “-…I just want to know, if I’m going to have to change this into a custody battle?” He didn’t want to say that out, because that was the last thing he wanted to do.
“First of all -- I named her paige. I thought you’d like that name. Second of all? You don’t -- it’s been THREE YEARS, Brody! You can’t just hunt me down after three years and threaten me with a custody battle! I have -- I have raised that little girl as best I can without help and now you just -- ” she felt sick; she could feel her stomach churning and she contemplated escaping to the bathroom for a moment to cool down. a hand reached out to grasp for a seat at the small table and she slipped into it, hands lifting to press against her face as she sucked in a few deep breaths. “I wont let you take her from me..”
“ now ?? law, ” the brunette answered the question bluntly, with a nod. “ that’s possibly one of the cutest things i’ve ever heard. i’m more of a fan of cephalopods, though. i used to paint a lot as a kid and i always painted squids for some reason. my mom still probably has all my art around somewhere. it’s probably terrible. ”
“Law? thats cool! would you actually mind if I asked you a completely random and totally hypothetical law related question?” she chuckled, smile still in place. “Ah! I love squids -- those little tiny ones? they’re so adorable! I love them. Oh, i’m sure your paintings were wonderful and your mother adores them.”
“Well yeah, there’s many happy things I could think of, like my girlfriends pregnancy, or my puppies, or even the fact I don’t have to work till April. But it’s just kinda something that crossed my mind and wouldn’t leave it.”
“a baby? oh thats wonderful! If you two need any help let me know, I’ve got a ton of baby stuff Paige can’t use anymore and no clue what to do with them. Puppies are also quite lovely -- we got cats at home, but i imagine paige will start clamoring for a puppy to run around with soon enough. But I find dwelling on negativity only leads to bad things, wouldn’t want that, would you?”
“If she’s as gorgeous as her mother then I would love to meet her.” He said with a smile. “Even if she wasn’t gorgeous I’d still want to meet her, but she’s probably beautiful. Sorry I’m rambling.”
“You’re cute --” she couldn’t help the light giggle that followed and she stopped at the counter quickly to grab the coloring book before leading him back to the table where Paige was now sitting, drawing furiously all over a bunch of napkins. “Paige, honey -- this man found your coloring book..” Paige was all wide eyes and smiles as she looked up at the man, ‘thank you, mister!’ and she wiggled her little self out of the booth to wrap her arms about the mans legs in a hug. “I told you she’d love you, coloring is very important to her.” she chuckled, setting the book down on the table.
“ i used to want to do that when i was a kid, too. but yeah, i mean–sharks are cool. but they’re not even the best of the chondrichthyes, if you ask me. ”
“change your mind? what do you wanna do now?” forgive the mom like question, it’s just become a habit. “I think all the animals in the ocean are pretty cool, honestly, but I just fell in love with sharks as a kid -- my daughter has my old shark stuffed animal, it’s her favorite. which, of course, makes me happy.”
