Dis. a Latin prefix meaning “apart,” “asunder,” “away,” “utterly,” or having a privative, negative, or reversing force (see de-, un-); used freely, especially with these latter senses, as an English formative: disability; disaffirm; disbar; disbelief; discontent; dishearten; dislike; disown.
Due to the worldwide pandemic that hit 2020, BTS had to cancel their worldwide tour and not meet ARMYs for months now. In this track we see a very smart wordplay. Written in Korean in means sickness or disease but for its English translation they explained the double meaning and the message that the song might have to convey.
+ A disease is a particular abnormal condition that negatively affects the structure or function of all or part of an organism, and that is not due to any immediate external injury. In this situation, the organism can be the whole world and in a more personal matter it can be BTS & ARMYs. A diseased organism commonly exhibits signs or symptoms indicative of its abnormal state. And this is what happened to BTS. The busy 7 boys who once were touring the world are now surrounded by four walls all day every day. This might not sound like a big deal to some but please note that we, humans are all different and so are our reactions to situations and events. This pandemic affected BTS’ mental health heavily and what is happening to the boys behind the flashlights and cameras is not something many can see or understand.
