Hey there, I just realized that I’ve never actually made a proper post here letting y’all know what’s up. I’m genuinely sorry about that. ^^;
First of all, I’m doing fine, and thank you to those of you who popped into my ask box to ask!
But more importantly, I’m not playing Love Nikki anymore, which of course means I’m not doing rips anymore either. I gave an update and warning in the google doc before deleting everything, but I’m sorry I neglected to update the information here! I just wasn’t enjoying the game anymore, and I was entirely staying off of all social media for the sake of my mental health, so this blog just entirely slipped my mind when I quit. I’m still not active on tumblr, I just pop by now and then to post art on my main, so if you want to say something to me, there is a slight possibility that tumblr will let me know that I have messages. (I was on yesterday but only got notified about my backlog of asks today. I have no idea why tumblr’s like this).
If you have any of my rips saved, you’re still entirely welcome to use them as you please, and if you want to share them so others can use them, you’re welcome to do that as well seeing as I don’t have them saved anymore, but I still of course want people to be able to use and enjoy them!
And if you want to rip for yourself..... Well, I haven’t done it in so long I have no idea if how I used to do it even works anymore, but, well.....
The programs you're going to need are:
NinjaRipper v1.7.1 https://cgig.ru/ninjaripper/
NoxPlayer https://www.bignox.com/
and DDS Converter https://download.cnet.com/DDS-Converter/3000-12511_4-76037738.html (you can probably use other programs that can handle .dds files, but this was the one I used)
With NoxPlayer, you just need to download Love Nikki from Google Play on it (as far as I've experienced, this ripping method works with all versions of Love Nikki if you want to rip from other servers).
For NinjaRipper, unzip it and put the folder anywhere you want it, then go into the x86 folder and open the NinjaRipper application
This is the window that will open. Now, I don't remember how it looks when it's newly downloaded, but you'll need to set up the spaces like I have (with your computer’s username in place of my “swmf2″ of course).
For "Exe", click on the triple dots, and you'll need to navigate to Nox's location on your computer, for me it's This PC > OS (C:) > Program Files (x86) > Nox > bin > Nox.exe I believe this should automatically set up the "Dir" space, but if not, just copy in the location of the folder that the Nox.exe was in.
For the output directory, click browse and chose where you want the ripped files to end up, I have it in the same folder that I keep the ninjaripper folder in, and it'll make a folder called "_NinjaRipper" in that folder when you use it.
Then go in the settings. The "forced" key is the one you want, so make it whatever works for you, I used F4 because that's what the person I learned from used.
Then you can open NinjaRipper and click "run" which should open up Nox. Let it open, open Love Nikki, then find whatever it is you want to rip, and click whatever you chose for the "forced" key. It'll freeze for a couple seconds while it does its work, then you can close Nox or go rip something else (in my experience, the first rip you do per session generally works perfectly, but if you do more, it'll be missing some assets. I don't know if that's just my laptop being stubborn, but if something you want fails to get ripped, just close Nox then run it through NinjaRipper again. Ripping takes some patience some days lol)
After you've ripped, close Nox and NinjaRipper then go to the folder you chose for the output directory, and you should have the "_NinjaRipper" folder with a bunch of dated folders in it like this
When you've done the ripping, open DDS converter (I keep a shortcut for it in my rips folder) then click "add" and go to _NinjaRipper then the first folder with Nox capitalized, open the folder in that, then chose the .dds files, make the output folder wherever you want the pictures to go, then chose "TIF/TIFF" as the output format (going directly from .dds to .png messes up the transparency for some reason), then convert! Once it's a .tiff, you can convert it into a png, and the transparency will be fine. Every asset will be a separate image, and some items such as hairs come in multiple layers, so if you want to put together suits, you'll need a program like GIMP or Photoshop or whatever that can do layers and put them together.
Based off of my set profile for Love Nikki! Honestly, that game has so many clothes....oof....XD It's fun to match them up but hard to get sometimes haha.
Finally I can post the Black Rose painting I did for @love-nikki-fanzine
I was incredibly honored to be a part of the project and I love the final result!
