“Am I too late?!” Diana asked in a whisper, out of breath, as she jogged to the entrance of the house the monster had been in.

“Sorry, babes. We got the kill down” you spoke at a normal volume, letting her know that there was no longer a reason to be quiet. You stepped back so she could enter, and led her to a room so she wouldn’t be standing at the front door frame, shivering.

“Dude, what the hell?! I’d been working on this for months, and it was all I thought about! It was the only way I could get closure from that stupid goddamn thing killing my boyfriend!” Evidently, she considered quiet to be irrelevant, as well, speaking at a full on yell by the end of her little speech. “All I wanted was to do Carl proud, and you ruined that for me, all three of you!”

“Diana, you’re doing him proud right now by just being who you are, and I think he’d prefer it if you let someone else handle it. You could’ve been in danger and your judgement could’ve been clouded. It happens in hunting, we all know it. I think it’s probably best to move on from this case and not get wound u-” as you had been telling her your own opinions, you had thought she would calm a little, or at least consider your approach to the matter, but her burning eyes and flexing fingers never faltered. In fact, she only appeared to become more angered as you moved along with your words.

“Move on?!” she interjected. “You’re not one to talk about moving on. How long have you been in love with Dean for? 5 years?” she wasn’t shouting any more, she was taunting, her voice dripping with venom, and in a way, that was worse than raising her voice.

You flinched, seeing movement out of the corner of your eye. Initially, you came to the conclusion that maybe you hadn’t killed the monster after all… However, when you glanced at the doorway, it was Dean, eyes wide with shock.

“Diana, stop” you urged quietly, not meeting her harsh gaze.

“You might think you get to decide what I do, but you can’t” she sneered. “You can’t tell me about moving on when you’ve watched Dean sleep with other girls, occasionally having relationships with them, for 5 years and not even tried to move on to someone else! You know it’s never really gonna happen, so why don’t you just face the facts? Maybe I can’t move on but at least Carl actually loved me, unlike De-”

“Diana” you spoke louder this time, and your words were more pointed. “Stop.”

“Why should I?” she retorted. “You were the one that-” she stopped, mid-sentence, when she saw him. She just saw. “Oh, my God, y/n, I’m so sorry. I didn’t know-”

“There are some things I didn’t know, either” Dean stated blankly.

He walked out of the room.
