NOW OR NEVER. Sadie takes a deep breath, squeezing Brooke’s hand for comfort. “I THINK I MIGHT BE THE REASON THESE MURDERS ARE HAPPENING,” she says, self-centered as usual. “MY MOM NEVER TOLD ME, BUT I READ HER EMAILS AND I FOUND OUT THAT I’M NOT MY DAD’S BIOLOGICAL DAUGHTER. MY REAL FATHER WAS A SERIAL KILLER. MOM WAS REALLY INTO, LIKE, CONJUGAL VISITS AND DOING WEIRD SHIT.” She sighs, feeling a little lighter with her secret out like that. “BUT I DIDN’T DO IT! I DON’T WANT TO HURT ANYONE, BROOKE, YOU GOTTA BELIEVE ME.”

Listening to everything she had to say Brooke just remained quiet for a few minutes. It was all very odd information to divulge and a lot to take in. She had to carefully plan what to say in response. Knowing she had to say something she finally took a deep breath. She was scared to death so comforting words were something that she had to put a lot more effort into than normal. Especially if she wanted them to sound sincere like they truly should be.
“I believe you. About everything.” Her response was still whispered because they didn’t really have the luxury of speaking in normal tones. “But unless your father is Mr. Jingles or the Night Stalker…I don’t think you are the reason.” She hoped that neither were. “We’re just in the wrong place at the very wrong time.” She let go of her hand and put an arm around Sadie to pull her close. “Let’s just not think about any of that right now. Let’s just think about making it through the night.”
That was...pretty reasonable, actually. Sadie hadn’t been told a lot about her father, but she’s pretty sure the two serial killers Brooke had mentioned didn’t fit the bill. She didn’t want to die, strictly speaking, but she’d already lived longer than she’d expected so she wouldn’t be too surprised. “WHERE’S EVERYONE ELSE?” she asked quietly. If any of them had to die, she sort of hoped it would be Xavier. She didn’t trust him.
