2015 New Years Resolutions
• Spend more quality time with the kids, Sunday fun day, and build projects. • Make more time for Laura, and take more opportunities to have date nights. Schedule 1 date per month. • Become proficient in PowerShell, write at least 5 utility scripts. • Run at least one marathon, Seattle Rock & Roll. • Run at least one half-marathon, Sammamish half. • Find and read 3 books for pleasure. Some of these resolutions may seem silly but they needs to be done. Taking them one at a time, starting with the kids. I never feel like I get enough time with them. I thought it would be a good idea to call it out and make sure I'm giving them the time they deserve. It can be difficult with work, especially since I did a lot of traveling in 2014. Next, I need to make sure I'm spending enough quality time with my wife. Scheduling one date a month is harder than it sounds with 3 kids, looking back at last year, I think we had a total of 4 dates. I want us to do a better job and take more time for us. Next is a work related item, I've been picking up some PowerShell lately and I thought it would be good to make sure I called it out. Then I have my personal goals. Last year was a busy hear for me, I managed to get my MBA, and I train for a marathon but I had to cancel it at the last minute, work travel got in the way. This year, I'm going to run at least one marathon and one half-marathon. I also want to read more no-work related books this year. To help me keep my running resolutions I'm going to start keeping a log of my daily runs. I was reading an article in Runners World this morning and it talked about tracking your runs. I figure, I'll use my blog to track this and if I get an injury, I can back track. It seems like a good idea, so if you see some small logs about my latest runs, you know why. :-)
