I think it’s beautiful to see the differences between both reputation and Lover, and seeing the glow up between them.

because reputation is in black and white and writing is on one side of her face. Which could imply that the media only saw the black and white version of her life, let’s say “the top layer” of who she really is. The chain around her neck on the reputation cover could symbolise the media’s image of her is chained to her no matter what she does.

Now if we look at the lover album cover it’s full of colour and Taylor’s face is no longer covered with writing but now with a glitter love heart which could imply that no matter what the media says about her the people who “love” her (eg, us, her family, Joe etc) know the real her and see her real colours as well as her “under layers”.

This why the album is so colourful she’s showing us she’s has let go of what the media thinks about her life and that she is steping into the sunlight, bright and colourful as ever.
