âLooks like we have something else in common! But i was working so I had no other choice. Im sure someone probably is, or more so about the police presence around than the fire,â
âSee, the thing about me owning my own shop means Iâm my own boss and I make my own hours. Pfft, the police never stopped anyone before. Not sure why itâs such a big deal now. Unless of course someone is guilty of starting that fire. Though, props to them because the place was a shithole anyway.â
âWell, itâs Monday and I didnât go to a single party this weekend so this week is already off to a shit start. Is everybody really still so tense about the whole fire thing?âÂ

Manny stepped closer to the other, her eyes narrowing as the conversation went on, trying her best not to flip out. ââWhy not? You promised me a million times that you could be. That you change. Why was all of that more important to you than I was? I tried because I thought maybe youâd turn out to be different. But I was wrong. and every time I thought maybe it could work.â She spoke, starterting to feel her emotions get the best of her, he really did have a way of riling her up. âI only do those things because of you. Because I canât let another person in just to be let down again. I didnât make that choice. You did it for me. And you easily moving on to the next best thing just proves to me how little I meant to you. â She huffed, shoving her mail in her purse as she began to lose balance. âAnd you think I didnât love you? You think I cried myself to sleep every night that you didnât come home because I didnât care? It was too damn hard! So, go on and throw your pity party about me succeeding without you because believe it not I wanted you by my side when I landed my first movie role. I loved you more than anything, you idiot,â The brunette took a long breath.
Jay was quickly growing frustrated, yet there was still a tinge of pain in his chest he couldnât quite get to go away. âIt was never more important than you. Once you get involved with this shit itâs hard to get out of it. Not without consequences. You donât think I would get out of it if I could?â and that wasnât a lie. Heâd manage to distance himself from the criminal world, but he was in deep and there was no escaping, not without consequences - dangerous ones. He pressed his tongue to the roof of his mouth, breathing in sharply. âI donât know what you want me to say, Manny.â he looked up at the ceiling, shifting his weight. âIâm sorry and Iâve said it a million times.â he muttered, dropping his gaze again. âI loved you too Manny, I did. We werenât engaged for nothing. I tried to make it work, but then I realized we are from two different worlds and youâll never understand mine.â He added. It took every ounce of his being to not walk away from her right now. That was what he always did. He always ran from his problems instead of facing them - its what he always did.Â

I return from a family vacation to find the school has burnt down, and we have to spend millions to help repair it. Guess the nice ass loft is a good compensation.
Wow what an awful thing. Having to come back from your luxurious vacation to spend millions of your billions of dollars? I canât imagine.Â

Manny could tell she was getting under the otherâs skin, feeling a bit of satisfaction from it. If they couldnât be together, at least they had this banter. ââThat used to be what you liked about me. Being unbelievable. Or blunt. I guess thatâs not the case when itâs directed at you, right?â she smirked. Of course she still loved him, that much was clear. Being together wasnât an option though. She had to push that out of her mind. Her blood could help but rise in temperature at the mention of another girl. He loved her, but was able to move on. What was love anymore? She wasnât sure anymore. ââYou didnât? Good for you. But, I thought I was the only exception? Or is that what you say to all your conquests.â She raised an eyebrow, heels digging into the floor.
Jay pressed his lips together, anger nearly boiling over the more she spoke. He sucked in a breath, pulling himself together. âLook Iâm sorry I couldnât be your 9 to 5 guy who comes down to sit down and eat dinner with his honey every single night. You know I had shit to deal with. You know what you got yourself into. You know who I am. If it wasnât enough for you then why did you ever even bother? Not even just once. Over and over again.â he countered with a huff. He took a few more breaths, trying to gather himself before speaking again. âYou were. You were never just a conquest. But guess what? We arenât together anymore. That was your choice. Iâm not sure why you can go out partying and sleeping with whoever your flavor of the night is but itâs a problem when I hang out with someone else.â he rolled his eyes, growing more frustrated by the minute. His lips pressed into a firm line and he dropped his gaze. He took a few breaths, calming himself down before he looked at her again. âManny, I loved you. I wasnât perfect, but I did. Even if I was bad at showing it... but I think we both know we arenât meant to be. Youâre gonna be some big hollywood superstar one day and Iâll still be some grungy mechanic in Toronto. Weâre from two different worlds and thatâs always how itâs going to be. Thatâs it.âÂ

She smirked at his words, âDont sound sure of that baby,â She spoke with a chuckle, taking a look around the car as he drove. âSo how much horse power this baby got? Im sure the engine is a fucking beaut,â She spoke, turning to him with a brow raise, using her small folder of car facts on him, knowing it was a turn on for most men. Chuckling as they parked in the lot two seconds from her own, âDefinitely compensating,â She joked again, pretending to think for a moment, âAll three sounds very lovely, the last option seems mighty fine, but a blunt will forever be the love of my life,â
Jay didnât say much, but instead grinned when she said not to sound to sure. In reality, he really wasnât sure where tonight would go, but heâd enjoy it no matter what because he needed some fun right now. âAh, a girl who knows a little something about cars. I like that.â he said with a wink. âThis baby has about 800 and the engine is sexy as fuck.â he gushed. His car was one of his favorite topics of discussion and if he was being honest it was a real turn on to talk about it with Bella. He slammed his car door behind him, shaking his head at her. âNah, I just like to hear her, especially at night when Toronto is silent.â he countered, motioning toward the stairs into the building. He smiled back at her, nodding in agreement. âI canât even argue with that one. Donât worry though, Iâm sure youâll get all three.â he teased, making his way into the building.Â

Bella has just finished lacing up her combat boot when her phone made a distict ping noise. Glancing over and seeing Jays name she couldnt help the barely there smile that tried to tug at her lips. He had gotten under her skin at the bar, in a good way, but under it none the less. While she knew exactly what he wanted, she knew herself better. She loved the game, the teasing, the wanting, more than the actions. Reveling in the fact she had his full attention in their first meeting, and reveling that she had it now as she pushed the front entrance open. Immediately spotting Jay in the drivers seat of his car, a simple impressed nod falling from her shoulders as she approached the car, swinging the passengers side door open, sliding into the seat and turning to Jay with a smirk, âCompensating for something?â

Jay had made his way out to his car. Bella wasnât far - they were on the same property like the rest of the student body, but there were a few different apartment buildings to accommodate for the amount of students. He also may have wanted an excuse to show off his Challenger. Her engine roared to life and he pulled out of his spot. He whipped around a few corners until he made it to the building Bella had said she was, finding a parking spot right next to the entrance and throwing his car in park. He pulled out his phone, shooting Bella a text to let her know he was here. He didnât know what tonight held, but he did know that for some reason ever since heâd met her at the bar he wanted to see her again. She was interesting, not like the others. It was the first time since Manny that heâd actually wanted to go out of his way to spend time with a girl and not just take her to bed and send her home. He was scrolling through social media on his phone, eyes peeking up at the door once and awhile hoping to catch sight of Bella.

Bella wasnt one to go to a bar often, if she did it was normally her place of work. Always having preferred a fat blunt over a glass of whiskey, people knew she wasnt one to be there. But she had just finished dropping off Eliana with her father, and he had decided to be a dick for the night. So instead of heading to her apartment she decided to make a quick detour, needing a nice mixed drink or two before she made her escape to her bed. He chuncky heels making soft taps as she made her way to the bar, spinning the seat slightly as she slid into it. Her signature smirk proudly on her face as she looked at the bartender, âVanilla rum in cherry coke,â she spoke, a dangerous tone lacing her voice as she scanned the man before her. Rolling her eyes as he turned with a smirk on her face, but hers only grew. Knowing she wasnt gonna be paying for her drink as she took a look around. Her eyes matching the gaze of the man at the opposite end of the bar. A perfectly kept brow raising, as she patted the seat next to her. Signalling for him to come to her.
Jay had his drink in hand by now, lifting the glass to his lips and taking a much needed swig of it. He set the beer down with a clink against the counter when he heard a familiar jingle, signaling that the bar door had opened. Curious eyes looked toward it. Long legs caught his attention first, smirk finding its way to his lips when his eyes scanned the rest of the slim girl. He pulled his bottom lip between his teeth, eyes watching her as she made her way across the bar and sat down across the bar from him. Once she had noticed his presence she coaxed him toward her and of course heâd give into it. He grabbed his beer and started making his way over to the girl, finding his place in the seat beside her.  He couldnât help but eye her up and down, giving her a nod. âHey, Iâm Jay.â he introduced himself with a charming smile. âand you are?â he added. He recognized the girl, but he didnât know where from. Maybe he had just seen her around.Â

Manny couldnât help, but form a smirk when she could tell her ex was so raddled to see her going out. Serves him right. If he was able to go out partying, ultimately ended there relationship, then so did she. It wasnât like relationships lasted anymore. Her hook-ups were the only way to keep him off her mind. It hadnât exactly been easy for her either. But she wouldnât dare tell him that. âWhy not? You could do it. Being with me didnât make you wanna stop. Thought Iâd try out and see what the hype was all about.â Her eyebrow raised as her voice slowly began to raise volume. All of her emotions started rushing back like a tidalwave. she scoffed, nodding as her eyes rolled, trying not to expose the hurt she held inside. âSame old Jay. I guess I shouldnât be surprised. You always were a ladies man.â
Jay couldnât help but roll his his eyes at his ex. âYouâre unbelievable.â Jay muttered, not even holding eye contact with her at this point because he just couldnât. Part of him still wasnât over her, but he needed that to come to an end and he knew that. After so much trial and error, the ups and the downs, the ons and offs. He really started to realize they maybe just werenât meant to be. Heâd not even considered that idea until tonight when he spent his time with Bella. As much as he tried to keep himself together her same old Jay remark made his blood boil. âI didnât even sleep with her if thatâs what youâre implying. No. I actually had a nice time with her.â he growled, practically seething at this point. âSound familiar? A bit of nostalgia maybe?â Jay shot, a bit of a low blow maybe, but Jay was infamous for being blunt and carelessly speaking.Â

Manny walked into the apartment building in her mini skirt and pink crop top. Her hair was perfectly curled and pulled back into a tight ponytail. She was returning home from a night out, feeling nothing but happy vibes. Since her break-up with Jay, going out seemed to be a nightly routine for the girl. A part of her still missed having the guy around, though thatâs something that she would never admit to out loud. The brunette walked confidently to her little mailbox in the building, hips swaying back and forth as she opened hers and began to rummage through the piles and piles of mail that she had. Being a struggling actress was hard, but it was something that she wouldnât give up for the world. As she shut the little window, she bumped dead on with no other than Jay Hogart himself. She rolled her eyes back at him, high heel stabbing into the ground as she made eye contact with the other. âNot that itâs any of you business. I was out.â She pursed her lips.
Jayâs eyes wandered Mannyâs frame from top to bottom and immediately felt anger swelling in his chest. How could she go out like that? Was she trying to get hurt? Was she trying to get some dude to come home with her? He sighed, backtracking in his mind. He needed to remember that was none of his business anymore. He had no right to play protective boyfriend anymore. She answered him and as much as it stung he knew she was right, but of course he wouldnât admit that - not right now. He wanted to be nice, but the anger and the pain was just spilling over. âHm, of course. Break up with me for being a party animal, but then go and become one yourself once Iâm gone.â Jay spoke, anger dripping with every words. Though, as angry as he was he knew it was at himself. He knew he wasnât so much angry, but upset. Upset things turned out how they did. âI was out too. With a really hot, really amazing girl.â Jay spat. There he was, the old Jay - always spilling out through the seams.Â
Take Another Drag, Turn Me To Ashes || Manny & Jay
Jay pulled into his usual spot, turning his car off and listening to the purr of the engine die down in all her grace. He was happy for once, locking his car as he slid out. He twirled the key fob around his fingers as he made his way through the lot and over to the apartments. It was late and he was beyond himself - having drove Bella home tonight instead of having her stay the night like he would have with any other girl. Their time hanging out was weird and something he wasnât used too and he didnât even score, yet still he was happy. They had fun together without sex, maybe a little bit of making out, but that was it. Jay had long forgotten about that sort of thing - fun without sex. Ever since he and Manny ended their engagement heâd lost hope in that sort of thing. He didnât want it, ever again, but then why did he find himself thinking about Bella so much since heâd dropped her off. As confused as he was, he smiled, making his way toward him and Alexâs apartment. Though of course. something had to get in the way of his mood. He turned the corner and nearly knocked into Manny, but stopped in his tracks just in time. He scoffed, rolling his eyes and looking away. âWell, well. Look who it is. What are you doing out so late?â he questioned.Â
( @manuellaxsantos )
It had been a long week and Jay for sure needed a drink or four. Right after closing up his shop for the day he headed straight back to the apartments to change and then made his way to the closest bar. Maybe heâd even get lucky tonight, but for now all he wanted was some beer. He might be stupid, but he knew better than to drink and drive so he made the decision to leave his car at home. He would never be caught dead leaving his car in some parking lot over night because he was too drunk to drive it home. Besides, the bar was just a few blocks from the student apartment buildings and they didnât have Lyft for nothing. He slid into a bar stool, calling over the pretty bartender and ordering his usual with a wink before she walked off to get his drink. His dark eyes scanned the room, searching for any familiar faces or maybe even some potential hookups.Â
