((Alright, so. Announcement time!

So as all of you have probably noticed, I’ve been very, very inactive for... probably over two months now? And for that, I deeply apologize. Between moving to a different job (one that doesn’t burn me out on 50-60 hours a week unlike the other two), applying for school for the first time in almost two years, getting caught up in Ace Attorney hyperobsession, helping my parents around the house, and figuring out how to deal with having free time for the first time in over a year, it’s... been very hard to squeeze anything else in.

However, now that I’m finally settling into this new job (and I finally finished binge-playing every main game in the AA series oops), I’ve started to work up more free time so that I’ll be able to actually come back here and RP and answer asks without dealing with severe burnout.

I’m honestly so, so very grateful to all of you who stuck around, as well as those who recently followed— thank you for your patience and words of encouragement over these past couple of months. <3

Hey Cypress what’s your job in the Dorata Roses? Why did you join them?

“Ehehhhh... well... the boss doesn’t like lettin’ me join in th’ large turf wars yet... but ah’m still darned good in a scuffle! Ah can handle m’self just fine, ‘n’ she knows it...”

He pauses to sulk for a moment, glancing off to the side.

“...Anywho. Ah’m also responsible fer th’ gang’s callin’ cards! Roses that we leave behind after a fight or a heist or whatever else have ya. Grow ‘em all m’self— much bigger and more colorful than anythin’ ya can buy anywhere else in th’ city, that’s fer sure!”

He pauses, scratching at the fabric of the bandanna around his neck.

“As for why ah joined... well. I didn’t have anywhere else t’ go, but the Boss saved m’ life! Ah owe her everything— she taught me how t’ fight, and how t’ train m’ Epithet, and... everything!”

Cypress smiles sheepishly. “...She’s pretty nifty. A real good boss, too. So ah stuck ‘round, y’know?”

Lily spends most of her time working as a flapper at one of the local bars of Sweet Jazz City, utilizing her job, her natural sense of charm, and her connections to gather intelligence, making her one of Doll’s most valuable informants.

Although her easygoing nature makes it rather easy to mistake her for something of a ditz, she’s actually one of the leading strategists of the team— with a memory sharper than any knife and excellent task management skills, she’s proven her status as an invaluable ally and a formidable foe countless times over since she joined the Roses.

Doll frowns, looking over an array of papers and files before her with narrowed eyes strewn in a seemingly-random order across her desk. Her hands, fingers intertwined, cover her mouth, but it isn’t exactly difficult to tell that she’s frowning in concentration.

At the suddenly approaching sound, Doll’s turned around in her chair in the blink of an eye, a pistol already drawn from her jacket to point directly at--

-- a tall woman with white hair and perfectly-tanned skin, who... honestly doesn’t seem perturbed whatsoever, despite having a gun aimed directly at her head. She grins, moving one hand from where she’d been clutching a file folder to her chest with both arms, before idly pushing the pistol’s muzzle to the side with her index finger.

“Gooooood morning, Boss.~ Lovely greeting, as ever.”

Doll groans, already clicking the safety back on on the pistol before shoving it back into her jacket.

“Damn it, Lil, how many times have ah told’ja t’ knock?”

The woman smirks, leaning in closer. “Ahhh, I woooould... but it’s a lot more fun keeping you on your toes, heh. Aaaanyhow...”

She quirks a brow, shooting Doll a smug look as she teasingly wiggles the folder in front of her. “Do you want this information or not? I had to work my tail off to get it, y’know!”

There’s a brief pause as Doll slowly inhales through her nose, her eyes narrowed. Then she snatches the folder from Lily’s hands, grumbling under her breath.

Though, as she opens the folder and looks through its contents, she can’t help the small whistle that escapes her lips. Every last page is meticulously detailed and well-organized, key pieces of information highlighted... 

It’s not a surprise, really. She wouldn’t expect anything less from her best informant, after all.

Doll clicks her tongue begrudgingly before shooting Lily a distracted nod of approval.

“...Good job, Lil. Thank you.”

And then she winces, already catching the smug look on Lily’s face out of the corner of her eye.

“Aaaaanytime, Boss.~ So glad you like it!”

Doll has to resist the groan that threatens to make its way to the surface. It would only encourage the other woman’s shit-eating grin.

“Yeah, yeah. Get back t’ work, Lil.”

Cypress Fiorello is the youngest recorded member of the Dorata’s Roses, and aside from its leader, is the only known Inscribed on the team. An avid gardener, Cypress grows every rose that the gang uses for calling cards himself.

With his Epithet, Cypress is able to use flowering vines in order to ensnare, trip up, or even whip an opponent— he is also able to make things ‘flower’ in the sense of revitalizing plants, providing stat boosts to allies, and/or healing.

Cypress scratches the back of his neck sheepishly.

“...Mmghh... usually I don’t like bringing up m’ Epithet, just ‘cause it’s a little, um. Embarrassing. And th’ wrong people could get their mitts on th’ information, but... I s’ppose if th’ Boss seems comfortable enough talkin’ to all of ya...”

He taps a finger to one of the flowers adorning his hair. You could swear it moves, ever so slightly, as though it’s alive...

“M’ Epithet is Flower!”

Cypress puffs out his cheeks, looking rather torn between looking embarrassed or flattered.

“Mmghh... y-yeah, grew th’ flowers and knotted ‘em m’self... I spend a lotta time gardening!”

An unfamiliar, young voice pipes up from behind, causing Doll to blink and glance over her shoulder.

“An’ that’d be me!”

A fond smirk crosses Doll’s face even as she claps the younger-looking fellow on the shoulder.

“Nice timin’, Cy-Cy! This here’s Cypress, th’ only other Inscribed ah got on the team... well. That we know of, anyway. Aaaand he’s th’ youngest member, too, at nineteen years.”

His expression seems to sour somewhat, an embarrassed pout forming on his face.

“C’mon, Boss, don’t tell ‘em that...”
