Hey, do you have any clinical exam study tips? I honestly feel like I actually forgot how to study since grad school ended
I reviewed The LEAP books on and off for a few months before taking the exam I found to be extremely helpful. Take the test in the leap book first that way you know what you need to study. The format of the book is exactly like the format of the exam. The weekend before my exam I crammed.
I also listened to a few social work podcast when I was tired of reading. One I recommend is the social work podcast.
Remember these acronyms:
“Farmer Aladdin Raises Expensive Apples From India”
F: Feelings – Acknowledge/explore the client’s feelings.A: AssessR: ReferE: EducateA: AdvocateI: Intervene
For BEST questions:
Remember ASPIRINS
A: Assess before action (discuss, ask, clarify, inquire, explore, determine, etc.)S: Start where the client isP: Protect LifeI: Informed ConsentR: Rule out medical conditions, send to doctor if medicalI: Influenced Intoxication (Don’t treat if intoxicated)N: Non-judgmentalS: Support self-efficacy
Best advice I can give is when you are taking the exam, go with your gut. Don’t second guess yourself.
I put the links below if you want to check these out.
