Quick s/o to my guy, like where the fuck did you come from and where the fuck have you been all this time?! I love you infinitely and am forever grateful for your ability to love me wholeheartedly despite my flaws, scars, and traumas. He's the sweetest in the whole world, supports and loves me even when I feel my least lovable and tolerable. I feel so lucky that our paths have crossed in the way they have because life is a crazy thing!! I'm so fortunate just to have the chance to love him. Man, he's something else 💝

knowing

i don’t know where to start so maybe i just won’t--

because if i never try, i’ll never know:

how long the fall was.

was it a minute? was it a year? was i bruised? broken?

did I care?

did I care if it meant that I could feel something, for just a moment. even if it didn’t last, even if it was jealous or crazy, even if it was poison.

all I ever wanted was love. No soul that I have touched with my own has known any different. Oh, they knew. 

but I didn’t know. I didn’t know that you could still suffer while being completely empty. I didn’t know that loving someone would make me suffer,

and it’s as if I’ll never know.

Because I still love today, twenty-one years later, like the first time I ever loved.

Despite it all, I still try. I’ll never stop trying.

At least, I know.

you know before i fell in love w him and before i even really knew him, never did i think i’d fall so hard for anyone, or have my eyes opened to so many things, or always be cool w your presence (which hasn’t always been the case w people i know lol) here’s to an infinity of morning afters to waffle house, of picking wild flowers for each other, of adventures to new places, of taking risks, of slow dancing to john mayer, of listening to you sing oklahoma songs in the morning, of total and all encompassing affection. i love you josi xo

one of a kind

there’s nothing like coming home. except it’s different when you’re gone.

because I’m driving down the highway crying. the tears blur the lines on the road, make the breeze from the window run cold on my cheek-- I swear the music sounds better this way. 

there’s nothing like being home. except it’s different when you’re gone. 

because I’m sleeping in a queen size bed alone.  the sheets are cold and unwrinkled, and pillowcases are wet, stained with mascara. a moment ago, i could have swore you were here. 

but there’s nothing like waking up to your face in the golden morning. your lips slightly apart, breathing quietly.  with my head on your chest, i close my eyes once more: just ten more minutes. just ten more minutes. 

and in those moments I know, there’s nothing like you.

it’s crazy how you can give so much of yourself to someone that once they’ve left, it’s as if you can’t be whole again until the two of you are together once more

when i feel your arms around me, there is no doubt but i want to hear your words and feel each syllable as they leave your lips: that i am yours and you are mine and tacitly i wish that it meant a degree of indefinite time although i know that time is short and limited because you are wild and free i just wish there could be a future together, one that might include me

last saturday

a moment of staring at graffiti through hazy-rose colored eyes and a grey sky

laugh/coughing, warm lungs and cold knees— this place always brings back memories, some that i’d like to forget sometimes

in my room, every note is ecstasy— no longer notice the relics on my walls that embody the past

everything is this moment the beauty of the present

I close my eyes

all at once, i am lifted liberated
