Still a touch pale but at least steady on her feet, Bentley followed — or was dragged along — settling down next to him when he found a spot.
They’d made the service with a few minutes to spare, so Bentley glanced around them, admiring the architecture. Someone had left a pamphlet of sorts near their seating, so she took it, flipping it open and leafing through it.
Huh. Seemed like the kind of church that would attract an Archangel.
The mass drew to an opening, starting with getting everyone to rise. Michael shot up almost like a rocket, his eyes were less hardened and had something akin to sentimentally about them. Maybe in a distant time, he too would call them to rise and they would obey like all good citizens. He turned, glancing at Bentley with pursed lips.
"You have not forgotten how to properly attend mass?"

When the two touched down, Bentley held on for a fair bit longer than strictly necessary. When both of her feet were firmly on the ground she let go, paler than before. “That could have gone better…” she mumbled, straightening out her clothes for something to do. “Yeah, I’m ready.”
"You look pale. Is something the matter?" said Michael,winching in his wings until there was only empty space where they'd been. A white feather fluttered to the ground which he carefully pocketed. "Come. This way." He grasped her arm and lead her inside, opening the creaky doors and breathed heavily. Pews were lined row by row neatly, the priest had just started to open the holy book. It felt like a second paradise to the archangel and it seemed as if God really was in the details. He sat down at the very front with his arms placed on his lap and eyes closed shut.

Looking at the feathered limbs, Bentley smiled. “They look amazing,” she said, reaching out to pat one but stopping herself before touching. He’d seemed pretty awkward about touches the other day, too, so best not.
Not wanting to stall more — it was getting pretty late already, after all — she stepped forward and took the hand offered to her. “Shall we be off then?”
"Yes. we must not be late." His hand was warm in her grip and tightened as the wings stretched out to their full length. It only took a few seconds for him to go airborne, he lingered a bit taking in the sights of tiny buildings. The air roared in his ears and ruffled his once neat hair; now only small curls remained. "Do not be afraid." said Michael, a moment too late as he sped for the church and dropped to the ground outside of the church. "Are you ready?"

"I’ll be right there!" came the reply from somewhere inside the apartment. Less than a minute later, Bentley would appear leaving it, closing it behind her and slipping her keys into her bag.
Grinning at Michael, she smoothed out her skirt. “I hope I look acceptable. Wouldn’t want to embarrass you, would I? You’re looking pretty dapper yourself, too.”
"Thank you. I was rather proud of it myself." Michael admitted with a firm nod and a last minute straightening of the blue tie wrapped loosely around his neck. He paused and stared at Bentley albeit confused at question. However she did have a point and did look nice and proper. "I do not understand why I would be embarrassed. Your dress is appropriate and proper for this occasion." The archangel bristled, checking his watch dutifully. "Come, we do not want to be late for Mass." he offered her his hand and their was a slight popping noise as his wings unfurled revealing great white wings tinged at tip with an inky black colour.

The last time they had met he remembered the swans and tea with a certain fondness he couldn't even deny. This bond was new and entirely complicated with the question of Bentley's aura being the starting point. It still bothered him yet he doubted she would know what it was if he tried. The clock ticked by on the bedside table, Michael straightened up his lapels with a confident smile. It took him mere seconds to unfurl his wings and find the grand flat. He hesitated, taking in the view it felt odd to be the messenger for a change then shrugged it off and cupped his hands around his mouth. "Bentley are you ready!"
Bentley, I wish to speak with you. It is urgent.
