he’d been a shitty brother, he knew that. he’d up and left hillston one night, swearing that he’d come back famous and well-to-do. the former was true, certainly, and it wasn’t that he necessarily regretted it — not when he was finally known, but he didn’t want his family seeing him differently. or seeing those pictures at all, if he had any say in it.
with that in mind, he’d invited sofia to lunch at his apartment, the first time he’d actually used the kitchen himself. he was a decent cook, had to be when he’d had the appetite of three people as a teenager, but he still felt nerves creeping up. sofia was his baby sister, one of the lights of his life, and he refused to tarnish her opinion of him.
he heard a knock and opened the door in seconds, grin wide and hair a little dishevelled, “would it be rude of me to ask if you’ve grown since i left?” ( @sxfiamendes )
sofia had missed her brother dearly during the time he’d been away. of course, they had texted and called while he was away but that it wasn’t the same. she wasn’t mad at him, though. it was what he felt like he needed to do and sofia would support him in whatever he did.
so, when lucas invited her over she gladly accepted. she couldn’t wait to hang out with her big brother again. even as a kid she always been excited when he wanted to hang out with her. it meant a lot to her that he invited her to eat lunch with her. and of course, it helped that she knew he was a good cook. though, as she walked up to the apartment door and knocked she got nervous. she didn’t understand why but she was.
“ lucas ! i missed you !” her smile grew and her nervousness faded as he opened the door and saw her big brother standing that. “ really, that’s the hello i get ? ” she said jokingly shaking her head. “ yes, that would be considered rude because we both know i stopped growing when i was eleven. ” sofia spoke rolling her eyes.
