With the wind on his face and the saltwater beneath his ship, Sinbad was in his element. The pure rush of meeting the unknown head-on, moving forward no matter how uncertain the odds, no matter how daunting the future may seem.

“Full speed ahead!”

And so the ship sailed to the great beyond, past the known limits, past the barrier and into blinding light.

Hinamori was unlike any town Umeko had seen before. Even Yubari, with its stretching towers and changing lights, called forth vague memories of her home but Hinamori was strange. The air was heavy with the sticky scent of something she couldn’t quite put into words. It clung to her like sweat, but the wind was pleasant and felt as if it was brushing off any seeming moisture that settled onto her skin. Beneath her, sand, something she had only seen in small amounts back home, lay blanketing the sides of the street paths. 

Umeko paused. On the pathway crawled a small, shelled creature. Bundling up the length of her dress so that it wouldn’t dirty that much, she knelt down and peered quizzically at it. The street was empty for the most part and, with her seeing such a creature for the first time, she did not have the thought of foot traffic in mind. “And what type of creature are you? Carrying your little home on your back?”

With the vast stretch of sand and sea, Hinamori was a lot like Sinbad’s home. Although each day brought with it a deeper yearning to return to Sindria, seeing familiar sights and indulging in familiar scents lessened the sickness slightly. Then there was work, too, and the many interesting people who lived in this strange island. So many distractions that kept Sinbad’s mind occupied.

“It’s a hermit crab, Miss~”

Walking home from his part-time job at the beach, the violet-haired man notices a young lady preoccupied by the tiny scuttling creature.

“Seems quite a burden to constantly carry your home on your back but it can be comforting as well. Travel for however long you want, go wherever you want to and just nip back inside once you get tired. A wonderful way to live, don’t you think so too?”

‘ you’ll have to try better then that to taunt me, uncle sinbad. ‘ yunan teasingly replies in a singsong rhyme, taking a few steps ahead. it was a good thing this sinbad had no knowledge of the frightening utopia he was going to build, still just the king of sindria. oh well, he supposed he could indulge the frustrated high king for now. he had all the time in the world to have his own share of fun, especially since they were stuck in this world– and sinbad had no questions to ask him already.

But of course Yunan would know just how to push Sinbad’s buttons. The high king was particularly sensitive about his age. He could barely stand being teased by his own generals so hearing something like this from the annoying Magi pushed him right off his limit.

He gives chase right away, not caring how silly they looked. Like two full-grown adults playing a childish game of tag.

sheba nodded, crossing her arms in front of herself. was         it so weird that she was aladdin’s mother? just as she         feared, she probably looked nothing like him at this point         in time. when she went into the rukh, she seemed to stay         eternally young physically. mentally, though, she learned         some things that no one should be able to know.

                         “is it so bad that i had a son? me and                           solomon were together for a while, after                          all. it shouldn’t be illegal to bed with someone                          if you’ve been with them for a long while, right?”

“A-Ah, no, it’s not bad at all! I apologize if I came across as rude. I was just surprised that such a youthful-looking woman is Aladdin’s mother.”

Did she just say Solomon? She couldn’t possibly be referring to the Solomon, also known as the divine author of this little thing called destiny, the fates, the very thread that binds human beings to this plane of existence- - 

Sinbad cleared throat. He hoped he wasn’t looking too crazed or excited despite the fact that he could barely contain himself. If this woman truly was Solomon’s wife and Aladdin’s mother then she would surely have information beyond imagining. Sinbad needed to play his cards very carefully if he wanted to get that knowledge out of her.

“I will be more than happy to bring you to him. By the way, my name is Sinbad. It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Miss...”

Life lessons

The sunset captured Alibaba’s focus as he looked out upon the endless ocean. Something always stirred in his heart when he saw the vast expanse, especially in the light of the sun. It was as if he had to keep going forward for some reason. With a small sigh, he just turned his gaze up at the stars before turning to Sinbad.

He heard a bit of what he said but not enough to understand. And since he said it so quietly, Alibaba didn’t think to ask further. He merely took another sip of his wine before giving Sinbad a small smile.

“It’s alright. Honestly I’m just kind of lost in this view…” He said, looking back at the sun and the slowly darkening sky.

Sinbad casts his gaze back on to the horizon. The sun was a ball of fire, oranges and reds bleeding into the placid dark sea. The water seemed to mirror the brightness before ripples swallow the vision, drowning the light in endless night. But just as their eyes attempt to adjust in the darkness, stars begin twinkling into existence. Little pinpricks of life, hope in the vast desolation of space. 

“...It makes you feel insignificant sometimes, doesn’t it.”

The violet-haired man gestures vaguely to the sky with his half-full cup of wine.

“When I was younger, I used to spend countless hours just staring up at the sky. The clouds and birds during day, the moon and stars during night. Always stuck on the ground, it’s easy to think of yourself as something small and powerless.”

“Doesn’t that make you feel afraid, Alibaba? Standing still while everything looms over you, bigger than anything you can imagine..?”

            Aladdin looked down at his own two hands, taking Sinbad’s words             into consideration. His own hands were small–the right size for a             child–but, Aladdin supposed he could see the appeal? Aladdin’s             hands were pale. Callouses were rough and turning slightly brown             from traveling and holding onto his magic staff. They were a bit dry             too; the skin between his fingers were lined with little lines of red             from previous bleeding. He never thought of his hands as             something visually important before, but a woman’s hands…

            A woman’s hands would be soft, silk, or smooth. Maybe even a             combination of all three qualities? Yamu-san’s hands were clean             and delicate with glossy, shell pink nails. Morgiana’s hands were             like Aladdins in a way from years of combat and slave working, but             Aladdin had noticed her hands came off as more delicate–a quality             women just seemed to be born with. 

            “ Hands, huh…? ” He murmured. “ Is that why men always try to do             things for women? So they won’t have to ruin their hands? ”

Sinbad nods emphatically. To be perfectly honest, his own hands were nothing to be proud of either. Rough, calloused digits lined with barely visible scars - testaments of the various struggles he had to go through to create his own country. But behind each imperfection is a story waiting to be told and if there was anything that people valued more than physical appearance, it was a story. A riveting tale, a romantic narrative. Which brings him to the next point.

“Aladdin, you have to realize that noticing a lady’s physical features is just the first step. Her hair, her figure, her hands, her eyes - they are just starting points to a bigger picture.”

“One of the important things about conversing with women or with anyone in general is to make them feel important, to make them feel that anything they say is being heard and understood. So you can start with a compliment then ask them how they got their hands so beautiful and slender, how their hair stays so soft and shiny.”

A random young lady passes by the pair. Sinbad smirks slightly before glancing back at Aladdin.

“How about trying what you’ve learned on that girl over there?”

The Emperor’s New Clothes

While he waited for Sinbad to dress up, Mettaton got up from the couch and walked up to his makeup table. He sat down on the chair, pulling the first drawer on the right and the middle drawer. He grabbed his eyeshadow pallete and his black and pink matte lipstick. He dug in the left top drawer, looking for his eyeliner gel, black mascara, and powder and he pulled that out too. He had to do a little retouch up since he’s been out working all day.

He turned the lights on, grabbed his makeup remover and wiped it out. He patted his face down with a towel and lightly puts some powder on his face. Soon after he puts on his black eyeshadow then his eyeliner. He soon used his mascara. He hummed a happy tune, waiting for Sinbad to finish and just when he was about to put on his lipstick, he noticed the other had stepped out from the reflection of his mirror.

「 I’m glad you like it sweetheart! 」He grabbed the black and pink lipliner from his drawer that he forgot. He used those to outline his lips and then soon used his lipstick, black on the upper lip and pink on the bottom. Once he was done, he used the powder once more to make sure his makeup will stay in its perfect and new state.「 There, good as new! 」

He pushed himself away from the table, placing the makeups back to it’s rightful place, turned the lights off and turned around to take a good look at the sailor.

「 Oh my, you look absolutely stunning~ 」

Sinbad chuckles slightly before giving his companion a small bow.

“As do you~”

Aesthetics were not high on Sinbad’s priority list but he will not the deny the power it can hold. Charisma was nothing without pleasing physical attributes after all and he would willingly admit to ogling several people due to their rather attractive appearance. Mettaton was no exception, although something about him was clearly different. Stunning, yes, but also rather perplexing. Like a bejeweled box puzzle, as intricate as it is intriguing.

“Now I wouldn’t want to appear so bold especially to someone who has helped me in my time of need but... Is it alright if I ask you a couple of questions?”

“I’ve been to many lands and seen many sights but nothing seems as... strange as you. Pray tell, how did you come upon this form? Are there any other beings like you here in this island?”

She stared at him, taking her offer. She felt a chill running down her spine at the odd sensation of his tongue against her finger. She pulled her hand back, staring down at it, hoping the odd feeling would go away. It stayed on her finger and she wondered why it wouldn’t leave.

Sunako looked back up at the man, staring into his eyes, making full eye contact. She wasn’t sure with a lot of things.

❝..Would you like to order it?❞ If he liked it, then he should order it right?

Sinbad expected yet another sharp refusal from the difficult dame but the open curiosity that met his gaze was surprising, to say the least. 

This is it. This is his chance to redeem his ladykiller reputation, to redeem this sad excuse for a date. This is it.

“I could... but I’ve found something that might be sweeter than a simple slice of cake~”

“Nah, I think I got this.”

Cocky as ever, Sinbad steps on to the court. He’d been watching long enough and it was a simple game. Nothing but a basic test of control and reflexes. Someone who prided himself on various physical achievements shouldn’t have any problem... right?

“You just have to get the ball into one of those hoops, right?”

[[ Just For Tonight ]] - Event Closed for Sinbad

He hadn’t planned to go. The letter, and the mask had been a rather interesting gesture, but the Vizier was barely able to tolerate parties thrown by those he considered family, he had no interest in going to one that had no benefit for him as for as socializing on the benefit of making connections and furthering Sin’s business ventures, if everyone was to be masked it wouldn’t make a difference what he did….

But Sin had insisted, had told him to go. To wear his mask and to spend a night forgetting everything… While Ja’far had wanted to say no there had been something in Sinbad’s smile, something in the way his eyes seemed to hold a poignant heartache despite the smile on his face as the words had fallen from his lips. Tonight, maybe spend some time being anyone but yourself.

Perhaps he’d been reading into it too deep, but the weight of the ‘argument’ they had shared in the kitchen still hung heavy in his mind and the idea of being not him for a night was more than alluring.

So he found himself, drink in hand, standing in his nicest suit among a crowd of anonymous faces. Silver eyes scanned the room, watching couples dance, and laughter echo louder than the music as he just sighed. Even a night supposed to be anyone but himself was as tiring as it was lonesome. He had spent his childhood wearing a mask, and it seems he was right back in one.

Turning to leave, the Vizier stopped, a tall figure blocking his path. “Excuse me, I’d like to get through…”

Sinbad knew about the event weeks prior, having received numerous invitations from acquaintances in the city. He refused most and gave non-committal answers to some. His reluctance was due to the fact that news traveled fast in this place. If he were to agree to one invitation then it would surely annoy another concerned party. It was best to attend and keep an amiable air with everyone.

Despite this complicated situation, Sinbad looked forward to the event. He enjoyed parties and socializing. Plus there would surely be tons of fine wine in such a fancy soiree.

Although after a strange.... altercation with Ja’far, the violet-haired man felt his excitement diminish. He knew he wouldn’t be able to enjoy the night to its fullest if this thing between him and his most trusted advisor, his best friend were to stay unresolved. But at the same time, he did not think they were ready to discuss it fully just yet. What they needed was a break, some way to look at the situation in a different way.

[ Tonight, maybe spend some time being anyone but yourself. ]

The advice applies to him as well. A night to be someone else - easier said than done. 

Sinbad fidgets slightly, adjusting the collar of his crisp undershirt as he takes his third glass of wine. He’d been all over the venue, greeting some friends and dancing with several of the beautiful women. But he was distracted, unable to fully enjoy himself. Amber eyes dart here and there, searching for a familiar shade of silver hair. 

He was about to give up and just drown his worries in alcohol like usual when he finally sees him. Fluidly depositing his empty wine glass on a passing server’s tray, Sinbad steps right in front of Ja’far, a debonair smile on his lips.

“Leaving so soon~?”

Mocking him. For all that he had already done to hurt himself, Sinbad had the audacity to mock him further? Unable to help the flinch when the King’s hand closed around his arm he kept his gaze anywhere but Sinbad’s face. 

Though as those words slowly registered in his mind he found his pale cheeks starting to burn as a flush creeped under his freckles. The same? It wasn’t possible. What possibly did he have that would catch the older man’s eye? He had his choice of anyone; and never would pick the Vizier who  did nothing but berate him and chastise him for his every move.

Even still, even if somehow Sin had allowed his heart to be swept into the same confusing hurricane of emotions he had; he couldn’t allow it. It was selfish and it was wrong. To allow Sinbad to return his feelings meant he was putting himself above Sinbad’s goals, above his hopes, above everything he worked to build. The point of staying behind and not beside was to make sure that Sinbad was always looking forward, not focusing on what ends might be cut like dead weight should he need to go higher. Ja’far refused to be the one to steal Sinbad away from his potential.

“… You shouldn’t” he said simply, finally lifting his gaze to meet the taller man’s eyes.  “I can do nothing good for you  that I can’t do from where I am now. Anything more would only hurt you in the end”

Sinbad bites his lip, his grip on Ja’far’s arm unconsciously tightening.

“I know I shouldn’t... but it’s not because of the things you said.”

It was absurd. Sinbad simply could not fathom how keeping Ja’far close would hurt him in the end. If there was anyone in this plane of existence that he trusted more than himself, it was Ja’far. He would never betray him, would never do anything that would harm him or his plans. The Vizier was loyal to a fault. If anything, it was Sinbad who was the harmful one. He always kept secrets, always tried to keep everyone at arm’s length, never allowing them to see past his brave and dazzling veneer.

If Sinbad were to let Ja’far closer than he is now, it would destroy him. It would destroy them both. Too many things would be at risk and yet... 

He couldn’t deny the almost desperate want to be vulnerable, to finally speak his true feelings. To know what it was like to love and be loved in return, to be able to let go without fear. To lose himself in this pure emotion.

“... I’m sorry.”

Sinbad couldn’t think of anything else to say as he pulls Ja’far into a hug, closing his eyes as he buries his face in familiar silver tresses.
