Respect to Portland:
This is all from yesterday evening (7/18/20). Don’t let anyone think the BLM protests have died down or aren’t well-attended anymore. Thousands of people are still gathering on the streets in many cities to demand abolition of the police and accountability for victims of state-sanctioned murders.
That man in the video was standing there, asking them why they aren't upholding their oath to their country. They responded by pepper spraying him and breaking at least 2 bones in his hand before he sought medical attention from a medic who found him after he stumbled through a gas cloud.
These are Border Patrol's version of SWAT with some other feds mixed in. Their only purpose is intimidation and violence. They make the cops that protestors have been dealing with look like mall security.
And they say they're gonna show up in Chicago next, along with other democratic leaning cities that have strong, long-term protests. Please be very careful if you are protesting, your rights and safety mean less than nothing to these people.

I didn’t even notice the url I was just like damn they’re right.
not to sound like a boomer but there really was a time when instagram and snapchat used to be more fun. like remember when instagram was that dumb app where hipsters would post their shitty pics in square format. remember when there were no ads or stories and things were posted in order? when artists and activists weren’t shunted to the bottom of the page in favor of some rich thin white person with millions of followers? when it wasn’t owned by facebook and all your info wasn’t constantly being sold to corporations and politicians if such a time ever existed lmao?
and on snapchat you used to be able to just snap your friends without getting all this influencer shit forced upon you in “news” and filters. snap maps and stories didn’t exist, so you didn’t have the ability to track down all your friends and monitor where they were, when, and with who. for years now snap, ig, facebook etc have transcended far beyond “social media” and into invasion of privacy on a personal and political scale
and i know this has all been said many times before and much more articulately and informatively than i ever could, but i’m just thinking about it much more nowadays because of how disturbingly apathetic instagram is. everyone who said “blm :(” like .5 seconds ago is now posting mask-less selfies and pics of the pancakes they got at a restaurant where they’re being served by poor bipoc essential workers in a gentrifying neighborhood i–
