Thanksgiving
With Love I wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving. And since we're in a place in our history where we can REALLY no longer pretend that all is well - with Love I also say that at the very least what is needed is a reframing of the holiday. Instead of continuing the story that in any way Thanksgiving is a simple celebration of the coming together of "pilgrims and Indians" as we've been taught for so many years - why not just say "Hi, we publicly acknowledge the horrible origins of this country specifically in relation to the Native Americans and know that no kind or amount of apology can forgive the atrocities committed here. However as a nation we no longer find it acceptable to go on and pretend as if these things did not happen. That entire tribes where wiped off the face of the earth and that the Natives of this country still suffer the affects to this day. In our bones we are sorry. We can't change the past but we admit that these things happen and we honor and acknowledge you and your ancestors. We will no longer teach false history to our children so that they will one day grow up to know who they are, on whose ground they stand, and what the blood in their veins is made of. And maybe (hopefully) unlike us they will be less confused, less ignorant and able to address each other with reverence and respect. Maybe in that way some healing can happen in the future. We now call this day "Thanksgiving" because we live in a country where in comparison and for the most part we are so very fortunate and also as a day when we remember and acknowledge our present and our past." And then do the same damn thing in February. -CO 11/27/14

Deep Cleaning: the kind were you move furniture to clean behind things... and also think about your life.
SMILING MEDITATION
1. Sit
2. Smile at any good things that come to mind.
3. Have tea, wine and or chocolate (Optional... but highly recommended)
All things change when we do
The time will come when, with elation you will greet yourself arriving at your own door, in your own mirror and each will smile at the other's welcome, and say, sit here. Eat. You will love again the stranger who was your self. Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart to itself, to the stranger who has loved you all your life, whom you ignored for another, who knows you by heart. Take down the love letters from the bookshelf, the photographs, the desperate notes, peel your own image from the mirror. Sit. Feast on your life.

Reminders that we are all in charge of our own actions, thanks to uoa.
Whatever is true, whatever is honest, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is kind, if there is any virtue, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on these things.

You will eat a big piece of cake. It will be red velvet - and you will be very happy.
Forgot my phone at home this morning.
Almost went back for it but decided not to. No phone all day = an interesting experience. I was forced to do things like ask people what time it is & "how DO you get to Water Street?" Twas like being in No Man's Land without a map or a compass even... I wuz fine - until I needed access to info in my email for my Ikea deliver. I had an "Oh Shit" moment - then I just asked a lady to full on use her iphone to check email & call my building. A lot of asking for help today. Also no checking email/messages or ANYthing online gives you a lot of time/space to think.
Fear is the cheapest room in the house. I would like to see you living In better conditions.
