i cannot put into words how much i love this goofball ❤️ after some stall rest for a popped splint, we’ve been taking it easy after just coming back into work. today was our field day, and we went on a small (mostly walking and 2 min of trot) trail ride (completely alone!) and walking side by side some very big, loud tractors moving large hay bales.

it may not sound like a lot, but a year ago this girl was given the nickname “psycho b*tch mare”. her owners didn’t ride her, and she wasn’t allowed to be turned out apart from occasionally alone in a dry lot. she was sedated for riding, and treated like she deserved to be in a straight jacket and a padded room.

how things have changed ❤️ i’m so lucky to have her in my life, but to have also given her an environment she can succeed in as well. it makes my heart happy to see her so happy out with her buddies, and being trusted because she truly has the most wonderful character and try. she is truly the horse of a lifetime and i’m so thankful every morning that i get to love on this goofy, loving, (sometimes grumpy!) mare.

Enjoying some reining lessons while Synna recovers. She’s in the middle of being reintroduced to limited turnout while we wait for our vet check, and a corrective farrier to come out.

relaxing after a wonderful lesson with ashley minea ❤️ we worked on riding our corners, centerlines, improving the quality of all three gaits, adding impulsion and collection to our trot/canter, and our extensions. overall, a wonderful test prep day with some hints of the upper levels coming ❤️ i couldn’t have done it without this mare. she’s beyond perfect, and the progress we’ve made is unimaginable.

we finished the day off with more infrared light therapy, a bath, and grazing (even though she’s a lil chunky from spring grass right now!)
