#that is a STARFISH?

wellackchually not quite, it’s more of a brittle star (class Ophiuroidea), though it’s in the same phylum (Echinodermata) as starfish (and also sea urchins, sea cucumbers, and sea lilies). Brittle stars are distinguished from starfish, among other things, by having arms with well-developed ossicles (called vertebrae) and muscles to crawl around, whereas starfish have relatively inert arms and move on their tiny hydraulic tube feet. Brittle stars have also lost their anus and sometimes bear live offspring.

This one, in particular, is from the group of basket stars. Whereas most brittle stars are scavengers, basket stars are filter-feeders, and developed fractally branching arms to sift a larger volume of water. Even so, when the guy looks at its mouth (00:36) you can see the five-fold symmetry common to all living echinoderms.
