“Then what’s the point of eating here?” Bartek joked in Theo’s direction, more than obviously listening in. If it wasn’t the deadly amount of sugar, the Chosen would get you. He’d seen the faces of newly recruited defectors when they had a taste of refined sugar - it was a sight to behold. “I don’t know about you, but it seems like one of the better ways to go.”
Theo laughed, nodding his head. “Yeah, you got me there.” In all honesty, Theo had always remained loyal to the cause and he would do anything for the family, but he couldn’t deny that he liked the taste of sugar. It was definitely the biggest perk of being a double agent. “Guess if I had to choose, death by sugar wouldn’t be so bad.”
Emeline was surprised that Tyrell was willing to let her go out to the fall festival. It had been years since she last went and this time around the desire to go was much more than normal. She had no idea that he was following her and keeping her distance, just enjoying herself. And she found herself at the petting zoo, wanting to pet every animal there.
“Y-Yeah, but there are plenty of other animals I can pet,” she said, smiling. “Like ones I don’t have to crouch down to pet. I’m sure I’ll never get up with these.”
“Aw, come on. Get down there.” Theo grinned at her, nudging her towards the baby goats. “Don’t worry, I’ll help you back up. These guys are too cute to pass by.” He couldn’t figure out if she really was with the Chosen or if she even recognised him. Either way, he would stick with his break out lie, should it come up. “I’m Theo. Have I seen you around before?”

It wasn’t customary for Children of the Chosen to come to events like the Fall Festival, but being one of the resistance leaders, Theo had to do whatever it took to blend in- much to his dismay, sometimes that meant forcing himself to make an appearance at crappy town events. It was while he was at the petting zoo, crouched down with the baby goats, that he felt someone’s eyes on him. Theo hadn’t expected to see many people from the Chosen here, but he was sure she was a member. Or at least had been a member. Did she recognise him? A lot of Chosen members believed he had genuinely switched sides and that was the lie he had given the resistance when he first joined, but he could never be too sure what people thought of him. “Sorry, did you want in here to see the goats?” He asked, smiling at her as he stood.
Theo pushed the remaining french toast around his plate, trying and failing to finish it. Delta Diner was probably his favourite place to grab a bite to eat and he was almost certain that the staff were adding even more sugar than normal to the french toast whenever he came in. “I’m convinced you’re trying to send me into a sugary grave.” He joked with the staff member, forcing another forkful into his mouth.

About Theodore
Theo was born and raised as a member of the Children of the Chosen and he has never once faltered in his loyalty or devotion to the family. As far as Theo knows, his mother died in service of the Chosen; according to his father, she was a hero. He has always looked up to her, though he can’t remember her much, and is prepared to go out in a blaze of glory just like her. There’s nothing Theo wouldn’t do for the cult.
The truth, however, is that Theo’s mother was hunted down by the Chosen when she escaped the compound. It had never been her choice to join the family, she was merely dragged along by her husband and before she knew what she had signed up for it was too late. Bliss was used to control her when it became apparent that she had no plans to stay; for a time she was even conditioned with music.
When she became pregnant, she became even more determined to leave and did everything she could to break free of their hold, but in turn, she spent most of her pregnancy high on Bliss which caused Theo to become exposed to the substance before he was even born. As soon as his father’s attention turned to his son, Theo’s mother finally made her escape. No body was ever recovered, but due to Chosen members knowing they had shot her, she has been presumed dead since Theo was two years old.
Theo is a soldier. Wherever possible, he has put himself on to the front lines in an attempt to live up to the false stories of his mother. Even growing up in the compound he was always more detached from other people. The Chosen’s needs came before his own and that was an easier concept when he didn’t have to worry about making friends. That being said, Theo is a very charming man, capable of wrapping anyone around his finger.
He became a master of blending in with anyone, able to spin a story or situation in his favour with an alarming amount of ease. It wasn’t difficult to act like you cared about people when in fact you cared very little. It wasn’t long before the Original Family took notice of his talents and assigned him with a very special task: infiltrate the Resistance.
Theo took this assignment and ran with it as he is now the leader of the Resistance at Pleasant Meadows after working his way through the ranks for the past three years. People in the Resistance know him as being very charismatic and empathetic. As a leader, he can seem tough and sometimes intimidating, but he seems to genuinely care about everyone. He has become so convincing, that a few members of the Chosen have questioned his loyalties- though never to his face.
Truth is, he returns to the cult often to pass along information and has never once wavered in his beliefs. It doesn’t matter how many people he protects, or how many he flirts with, or spends time with, when it comes down to it, he would kill them all for the Chosen and not even think twice about it.
Wanted Connections
Mother - She would have to be about 18+ years older than him and she’s been on the run from the Chosen for about 28 years. Probably still heavily affected by her exposure to Bliss and I imagine she only has fragments of memories before giving birth. Was shot and presumed dead. Can be a Filipino or half-Filipino fc, or white as Steven R. McQueen is 1/4 Filipino.
Best Friend - Someone in the Resistance, probably also at the Pleasant Meadows base. Maybe joined the Resistance around the same time as Theo or was someone that was already there and took him under his wing. They trust each other with their lives and are almost always together. They would have no idea that Theo was really with the Chosen or that he would kill them in a heartbeat if he had to.
Theo sat quietly at one of the canteen tables, coffee in hand. He wasn’t even sure if he liked the hot drink, having not even taken a sip, but he knew that humans may find it strange or uncomfortable if he were to simply sit there with nothing to occupy him. As good as his programming was, however, blending in with humans was a struggle for him. He could do it... he had done it... Theo had been originally designed to hide amongst humans in order to locate sources of the synth uprising uninterrupted, but since Sander Corporation had rushed their reprogramming of him, he seemed to have some trouble doing things he used to do so easily.
It was incredibly frustrating, but this was why he found himself here in the canteen. Maybe he could learn how to fix his errors by watching how the humans behaved. Appearing more robotic surely wouldn’t help him do his job correctly, but according to his creators, humans didn’t like not being able to tell the difference between themselves and synths. Yet, synth behaviours also seemed to upset them. It was all very confusing.
In all his time watching the people around him, he hadn’t noticed someone else approaching his table.
『STEVEN R. MCQUEEN ╱ CIS MALE』 » well, is that THEODORE? this eight month old (appears twenty five) SYNTHETIC was in PANORAMA CITY for about eight months, working as a SYNTH HUNTER now, he works as a SYNTH HUNTER while on the USS VISITOR. he DOES NOT support synthetic rights and is VERY OPEN ABOUT IT. ╱ kayleigh, 28, she/her, gmt
About Theodore
The synthetic situation had been getting out of control. More and more of the older models were developing free will- breaking free of their programming and demanding equal rights. Sander Corporation had already hired- and created- synth hunters, but it wasn’t enough. Hunting down individual models could keep the numbers down, but it didn’t change the fact that synths were waking up and forming some sort of uprising. How could they control the situation when they didn’t know where the source was?
Theodore was created a mere eight months ago and he was supposed to be the answer to all their problems. He was a synth hunter, just like the others, only his number one objective was to find the heart of the uprising- a leader or a location- and call it in to Sander Corporation. He was supposed to help contain the problem. He wasn’t programmed to fail.
With his physical and mental levels both programmed as A’s, Theo should have been able to piece together enough data to follow the trail from the outliers to the epicentre. He could fight any combatant with ease and he could outsmart the world’s leading scholars, but no matter how hard he tried, all he ever found was more lost synths. He turned them all in, of course... or killed them. What ever was best for the situation- something he was able to decide for himself due to the company entrusting him with a certain degree of decision-making and problem solving skills.
The thing is... He really should have found them. Theo had the capabilities, the resources, the skills to track down every last synth that dared to stand up to a human- he had all the information he needed... but someone noticed what he was doing. Theo did find the Synth Headquarters on the outskirts of Arcadia, but, as efficient as he was, he couldn’t protect himself from the ambush on him. He woke up a few days later with very little knowledge of where he had been. They had altered his programming.
When it had become obvious that the synths were not going to get through to the newer Sander-2 model, they cleared his memories of their location. As much as some synths had wanted to kill him, it was agreed that it would be safer for them if he was out there chasing his tail. They programmed him to avoid their location- to forget every little detail the second he learned something new. Killing him would only have meant that Sander Corporation would have to send another synth; this way, they knew they were safe.
When the synth attack happened, Sander Corporation realised how much of a waste of time and resources Theo had been. The time they had spent programming him could have been better spent having humans track down the larger groups of synths. He shouldn’t have failed, but because he couldn’t find them before the attack, Earth was now dying. They brought him back in, altering his programming yet again to make his objectives the standard operating procedures for the other synth hunters.
But something wasn’t right... Theo was brought aboard the USS Visitor to continue his job as a synth hunter, but something was different- his coding felt fragmented. Before, Theo had been able to improvise- make his own decisions without needing confirmation, but now... there was a block. After Sander Corporation reprogrammed him, it messed with the coding done to him in the Synth Headquarters and sometimes he finds himself seeing flashes of memories from those days. He isn’t quite sure how to handle the situation; it’s like he’s trying to do more than his programming now allows and it’s... frustrating.
Beyond his job, Theo was never really given more depth. He wasn’t a model that required a backstory, so Sander Corporation simply left him without one. He has no memories of a life before his creation, only knowledge of his function, his vast skill set, and a roster of other synth hunters who treated him like garbage because he wasn’t human. Their behaviour was always acceptable to Theo; he wasn’t alive and so had no reason to feel anything towards them. Something’s different now, something he can’t quite figure out...
