Eddie Munson is the best representation of a DND player in the 80's I've seen. He's a genuine loser. He lives in a trailer park, he's been held back God knows how many times, and he's a drug dealer.

But that's what makes him a fantastic character, DND is his escapism. If you ask most of the hardcore DND players, especially old ones, DND was their escape from their shitty life. It was the only thing keeping them sane.

Of course DND is for everyone, and all different types of players have their own reasons to play. But Eddie is a wonderful representation of the escapist player, who fell in love with the game because it was a place not just for fun, but for meaningful vacation.
