Kayo has survived the Stockholm syndrome. Unfortunately, his loyality to Humsin is mostly explained by this. Besides he hasn’t have anyone except Humsin for the most of his life, he wasn’t socialized, he didn’t know things could be different.

James isn’t his real name. When Arktos was young, he called his imaginary friend so. Apparently, he likes this name enough to call his most loyal henchman with it.

Arktos used to sacrifice his own citizens to Shouhu. This was the pay for old owl’s favor. Shouhu was too valuable to him to feed him with fish and plant food only.

Humsin has a genie nature. His magic book contains the summoning guide. When he isn’t summoned (or is killed as in Sands of Doom), he dwells in eternal sleep. Actually he should obey his summoner, but his glaring pride doesn’t allow him to do this. So every time he’s looking for a way to get rid of his owner and take possession of the book, and the last time he did it.

Vultur’s wife has worked in Arktos’s intelligence too. Her future husband was her direct chief. She’s come to desert regardless of Vultur (and has been very surprised to meet him), but she continues to wear winter hat as a headdress just like him.

James is immortal. He was Arktos’s butler ‘till Tyrion was alive. He’d been good enough as His Iceness’s servant, so Arktos had “awarded” him with immortality and eternal youth for James could serve him forever.

Humsin is addicted to chips. That isnt’t just a favorite treat, that’s real drug. He has very hard breakage without it.
