Ok I LOVED that ep but especially the workwives of it all. The fact melissa fits in so perfectly to barbâs family events, that theyre not just work friends but life partners. And the way melissa knows how to validate barbâs feelings AND make her smile. Theyre just so special to me.
I also appreciate how grief was handled so delicately to be real without dampening a comedy atmosphere. Sheryl and tyler delivered some really good emotional moments.

So Iâm confused with this timeline. I started this post wanting to be like what if the two of them werenât besties but theyâd met at the mixer at PECSA but Melissa was teaching at a diff school at the time. And they bonded over being bored and wanting to go to the pool and drink even as young teachers.
Me trying to make our dreams true with our hopeful timeline and now ive confused myself.
Just to add to the timeline confusion in Zoo Balloon Melissa says âwatching you snap into Super Barbara mode, that really took me back to when we started working at abbott.â

Am I meant to be thinking that Barbara Howard dressed like a 25 year old Janine in 2009?? I always took that line to imply it was a long time ago since she very much doesnât dress like that now and Janineâs s1 dress sense is very much influenced by not knowing how best to style things yet, so I assumed Barbara was similar too and therefore not very old. Could Barbaraâs style really have changed that much in 15 years?
So maybe I guess theyâve been working together at Abbott for a long time, but only been friends for ~15 years.
