“Wow, my apologies, Princess. While I’m getting out of your way, should I grab you anything? Some coconut water, perhaps? Oh, I would absolutely hate it if you got dehydrated.”
Running—Ryder has a love-hate relationship with it. Sure, it keeps lean, mean, and toned as all hell, but it was so boring. At least, it was a real snooze when he did it on a treadmill, staring at the wall with top 40 eighties hits blasting from his ear buds. That was why he tried to run outside as often as possible. And, today, he’s gotten a running mate to go along with him. However, as he glances over his shoulder, he notices that they’d stopped. “You said you could keep up!” he shouts.
Taci didn’t know why she’d accepted the offer to run with Ryder. She knew she was in for nothing but criticism on her running technique, even though she’d been running her entire life and was, surely, faster than him. As they started, Taci’s worries melted away. It was the third run she’d been on that day alone, and, really, who was to say she wasn’t the best runner at the academy? However, as she got too enveloped in the feeling of the wind against her face, a minuscule pine cone some how took all of her power from her, knocking her off of her high pedestal when she stumbled to the ground. It only took her a couple of seconds to stumble upward, but she scowled as she saw the look on Ryder’s face. “Are you doubting me, Burke?” She took off again, jetting toward him with timed breaths and a knitted brow. “I can do more than keep up.”
It seems like some people do. I just take it a day at a time, y’know?
I dunno, I’m ready to leave here already.

That would be ridiculous. It would be smarter to tutor the team in Russian. It would give us an advantage, because we’d be able to speak English without them understanding us.

He smirked as he lifted his drink from the table. “Now who is the touchy one?”
“I’m not groping you.”
“You.” he joked, planting a quick kiss on her cheek before pulling away and walking to her side. “Vodka. Definitely Vodka.”
“Disgusting,” Taci shot him a playful look before picking up the vodka. “Admirable choice.” She poured a glass for both of them before handing him his and snaking her arm across his back.
As the pair walked, Jayse wrapped his arms around Taci’s waist and rested his chin on her shoulder. “I’ll try and be good during the party, but I’m coming for you after.”
Taci huffed as the boy slowed her down, but her hands still placed themselves gingerly on top of his out of habit. “Are we the PDA couple now?” They came to a complete stop as they reached the liquor table, and she scanned the liquor. “What are you feeling?”
“I’m super sweet?”
Taci rolled her eyes instinctively. “Come on, I’ll get you a drink.”
“Oh? Am I in trouble?”
“Not yet, but I know how you get when you drink.”
“And I’m just saying we could have gone some place where people get drunk in normal clothes. But fine, let’s have fun. I wanna get shit-faced.”
“Fine. But when you get all touchy later, just know that I won’t be reciprocated when you’re three times as drunk as I will be.”
“Four and counting. You?”
“Two and not counting."
