namjoon really does so much for bts and i dont think people realize just how far it goes. being leader isn’t anything like being a member of the group. it becomes a job with hundreds of different responsibilities that extend from within the group itself to communicating with management and the company and the fans and news outlets and even interacting w the sk president …he has to hype up the members before every performance & show that he’s supporting them while trying to make sure everything runs smoothly, and bc he’s the only one who speaks proficient english, if there’s soemthing going on backstage he not only has to figure out how to handle the situation and/or fix it, but he also has to explain to the audience what’s going on.
namjoon’s in a very vulnerable place, trying to juggle his stage/camera persona while not losing himself to it. he’s in a very vulnerable place when it comes to attack, because he’s made mistakes – big, public mistakes before and people don’t forget those things even though he’s changed. he’s the head of the group. he’s the spokesperson. anything he says on american soil in front of american crew and cameras becomes an official statement no matter how fluent he is in the language or how casual the questions are, and he has to watch his words while watching his group and watching his personal appearance. he has to make sure the members work well together and he has to make sure the members work well together with the company on top of it
it’s hard to be such a big name celebrity, group or no. the fact that namjoon has the pressures of his entire country, hell, almost the entire world watching him isn’t easy. and people forget that he has to write their songs too. he has to deliver the messages that bts has always promised to deliver, and there’s always the fear of disappointment when it really comes down to it.
don’t overlook him. don’t underestimate his importance when it comes to bts bc without him the group wouldn’t even exist anyway
