It wasn't that he didn't respect the elf. Far from it--he was the one he respected the most, cared for the most. He hated not seeing the rings on his fingers (of course he'd notice, of all the things) and of course how stand-offish Key was..that wasn't even the right word. He was all-around avoiding him, no matter the circumstances, even after the one night they had together to talk and have a bit of wine under the moon's light, like they did oh-so long ago.
The weeks just turned to months, and he felt himself beginning to crumble.
The rage was quickly noticed, and he'd already known he'd be in trouble, but he didn't expect such a visceral reaction...not after this long. Feeling his eyes burn, he sat himself up, but not fully, curling into himself slightly as the other spoke.
"I want to help," it wasn't as if Taemin was weak. He just needed more experience, and he'd been honing his skills, even if he wasn't much of a fighter naturally. "I just want you to--" He was interrupted, being told he'd have to get off at the next stop to return to the academy. Taemin gripped the edges of the bench he was sat on, tight enough that his knuckles went white, and he was sure his clawed fingers were leaving small crescent-moon shaped indents into the wood beneath him.
He didn't want to cry. He couldn't cry. That would just prove to Key that he was a useless child, and the fear of losing the snow elf was creeping in on him.
With the sudden stillness and silence in the carriage, he could hear everything outside. Hyper-sensitive to the sounds that surrounded them. The chesire wanted to argue, wanted to say or do something--
And that moment came, a rush of darkness filling him as his expression changed from pained to panicked. "Key--" No time to speak, he rushed forward to take up a handful of the man's robes, all but tearing him out of the chair where black, crystal-like spikes were now piercing through from two sides. Whether the elf could have sensed it or not, the chesire had been quicker for once, now standing to keep the both of them steady. The carriage lurched and he stumbled, the creatures pulling the carriage crying out and thumping against the ground as the carriage was suddenly tossed onto its side. Tossed like it was nothing.
He'd let go of Key at this point, twisting slightly so he'd land mostly on his front, and hopefully under Key if he happened to not catch some sort of balance on the way down.
