While they were setting up, Charles had been practicing his speech for tonight. It was short and sweet. He decided to start out by saying if ever they needed, everyone could feel free to find sanctuary in his home. There was more than enough space and the benefit he and Raven would have was the company of new friends. This place was far too enormous for only two people after all. It took hours to set things up, but finally he made his way to the front door and stood just outside it.
Behind him, one could see the sparkling lights keeping the halls bright throughout the mansion. In front of him, there were lit candles inside carved pumpkins lining the walkway and stairs to the front door. Charles wanted his guests to feel welcome by offering a warm environment, he desperately wanted them to at least enjoy themselves for at least one night. He knew the struggles some of them suffered and he hoped they would feel at ease.
As the first guests arrived, he walked over to them probably a little too energetically and smiled, “Welcome, we’re so glad you could make it!”
