Wild magic? I can’t say that I’m all too familiar with the term, but it sounds to me like magic that calls upon and manipulates natural energies, like using a moon phase or a certain crystal to aid in one’s magic. That would be more ceremonial magic though, not really battle magic, so I dunno.
I’d love to hear your explanation, there may very well be a word that I’m just forgetting or don’t know.
Hmm... I guess!
For the most part, I think it’s called that because it’s taught among wild (or “feral, uncivilized”) trolls. It’s based on tradition rather than book learning, and typically the style changes depending on who you learn from, and what you decide to pursue.
Feral trolls have a much stronger sense of community than “civilized” trolls, so I learned from several older trolls, when I was young. A connection to nature and natural energies does play a big part in it, though. Like Nepeta, I work with souls, the self and the heart... My standard magic can be used to tweak and meddle just enough to have things fall in place. It’s the basics of my luck charms and various other things.
As far as battle magic goes... It’s not pretty or flashy. A far cry from “ceremonial” for sure. On Alternia, if two trolls enter any sort of combat, only one makes it out alive. Already disadvantaged, feral trolls hone magic to disable and kill enemies as quickly as possible. How each troll does that is different.
Does that help any? :OO
