Hello, Sir! I see that you're a professor here, and I thought I ought to introduce myself. Drew Clark, new practical mathematics instructor.

Good afternoon.  It is a pleasure to meet you, instructor Clark.  My Claim, Cash, and I will be teaching here in the coming semester.  It would be nice for him to get to know a fellow instructor, and I always enjoy conversing with people who know math.  Maybe you will join us for lunch sometime soon.

I think it's important for May to have someone to look up to. In the anime, she had Ash and Drew, and I imagine that in the games she always looked up to her rivals, Brendan and Wally.

When she doesn't feel like she has someone to look up to, she because a little more inward than she typically would be. I guess she just needs someone to help push her forward sometimes.
