How did it end up like this? Dating him for merely a few weeks, May found herself breathlessly sitting on a couch beside her boyfriend. It was nothing more than a make-out, but it was something she didn't expect to share with him so soon. Especially with him. Her lips felt damp, cool air hitting them along with his warm breath still teasing her lips for more.. whether he intended it to do so or not. Honestly, she was hoping he was. May's eyes fluttered downward for a moment before coming back up to meet his. He was still so close.
Noticing his reddened face, the brunette couldn't help but to give him a cheeky smile. May brought her hand to his cheek, the tips of her fingers fiddling with the ends of his green locks, and she rested her forehead against his.
He nodded and swallowed, "I-I've... wow." He seemed to be at a loss of words.
Bringing her other hand to his face, the girl pecked his lips. "Sorry, uh," with a light laugh, the May continued, "I dunno what came over me."
"No! It.." The green-haired boy's eyes widened a bit before letting out a breath. "It's fine! I... I lik... liked it." Wally took in another breath and let it out, his face cherry red. May was betting he was up to his ears in embarrassment at the moment. Her stifled laugh turned into a huff of air. Boy, he was so cute. The brunette wiggled her way in between the area between his arm and chest to lean against him, snuggling against him on the couch. Though a little startled at first, Wally relaxed, letting his arm wrap around her.
Feeling his long boney fingers comb through her hair was soothing as she lay there, looking at nothing in particular. It was nice being with him and feeling his touch. His heart knocked against his chest, picking up the pace slightly if she fidgeted, and even more so if she looked at him. May supposed that Wally wasn't that used to this kind of physical contact, let alone much at all-not to mention the fact that she had really sprung that on him earlier-and still wondered what he thought.
Closing her eyes, she thought over how it happened again in her mind. The movie they were watching had ended and the TV commercials were rolling. It was boring. Without much thought, she ended up giving him a peck on the cheek.. then the lips.. and then you could say she escalated it a bit. She just couldn't help herself. IN thinking it over, May began to worry slightly. Should she have waited? They've pecked before, but nothing quite this passionate. Was she even a good kisser? Did he like it? On his part, yeah, he was a little sloppy, but he got better fast. With a sigh, the girl crumpled into his arms more, wrapping her arms around him. She listened to his heart beat rather than her thoughts, enjoying this moment with him thoroughly.
Then he spoke.
"Hey, uh... May?" Wally moved slightly as May's eyes blinked open and perked up to look at him. A questioning hum escaped her lips as she slipped her lower lip under her teeth in a cute and questioning bite. "Could we, uh..." he withdrew his arm from around her and glanced to the side as she sat up. Another glance, and a smile at May, Wally hesitantly moved toward her. He slide his hands over to hers, lacing their fingers together. His hands were a bit cooler than hers. He gave them a slight squeeze before planting a soft kiss on her lips. Backing from her lips ever so slightly, he let a breath dance against her skin yet again, this time a grin coming onto his face. This time May could tell it was intentional.
" I.. liked that a lot."
Giving her hands another squeeze, Wally leaned into another kiss, and May smiled against them, leaning in herself.
I think it's important for May to have someone to look up to. In the anime, she had Ash and Drew, and I imagine that in the games she always looked up to her rivals, Brendan and Wally.
When she doesn't feel like she has someone to look up to, she because a little more inward than she typically would be. I guess she just needs someone to help push her forward sometimes.
May is probably Wally's #1 fan. She knows he's a lot stronger than people make him out to be. In fact, out of all of her friends she thinks he's the strongest considering that even with a couple of health conditions, he was still determined to go and follow his dream to become a strong Pokemon trainer.
Nonetheless, May still worries about him, and I guess even "mothers" him a bit (though I kind of hate using that term when talking about their relationship because it's really not that way). When he gets hurt or he's having trouble with his breathing, of course she would worry! She's very aware of his health problems and wouldn't want anything to happen to one of her best friends! However, because she's aware of his health conditions, she often doesn't treat him the same as she would her other best friends (though she tries not to). She's less teasing and physical towards him. While she prods at Brendan's sides, surprises him for a hug from behind, and teases him about his hat, she doesn't do nearly as much of that with Wally.
However, I feel as though May has an easier time talking with Wally than she ever would Brendan about something serious. If May was upset about her grades, or if someone was acting really rude to her, she'd go immediately to Wally for comfort and advise.
In conclusion, though she treats him more delicately than her other friends, May knows that Wally is strong, and looks up to him in a sense. She definitely considers him to be one of her best friends and is glad they met each other the way they did during their journey.
Brendan:
Now, Brendan is a whole different story. Though they've always had a wonderful friendship and would always help each other when they need it along their journey, they've always been fairly competitive in nature towards each other. Because of this, May often gives him sass and teases him, thinking it fun or just trying to mess with her rival. Brendan tends to take it well, sometimes teasing back, or messing with her by pouting at her comment and saying "aww, you're no fair" or something along those lines.
However, May's relationship with Brendan is substantially different from Wally's in that she interacts with him in a completely different manner. Wally is easier to talk to, while Brendan is easier to be completely herself with. May feels loads more more open around Brendan in the sense that she feels as though she can do anything when she's with him. She will surprise him with a hug, ask him to come and do something like sneak out somewhere with her, and overall she just feels really open to doing just about anything with him. In contrast, because of the rival-edge to their friendship, May feels more hesitant to talk with him about her problems. She feels as though he might think less of her, which is certainly not something she wants. May wants to appear like a strong coordinator and person in his eyes, who is fun and overall very lovely. Plus, she also feels as though he's not as responsible as Wally anyway, and wouldn't want to talk out her problems with him as much. If he brought them up, or asked her about them, she would be perfectly fine talk to him about them though.
Overall, their relationship is fun and exciting. While she has to drag Wally around to do things, May tends to go along for the ride with Brendan, always having a wonderful time being his friend. Though she teases him, and often feels compelled to compete with him, she knows she can always rely on Brendan to be there for her. Brendan will always be one of her best friends.
May is generally really excellent at making friends. With her abundance of enthusiasm and her sweet personality, it's not hard for her to get along with and relate to people.
However, because her attention is often spread around so much, she has a difficult time forming close relationships. That's why her friendship with Brendan and Wally is so special, and why she feels so comfortable just being completely herself with them.
May is really confused as to why everyone's trying to pair her up with her best friend.
To be honest, I don't see her being opposed to trying to date one of her good friends like Wally or Brendan. She'd be open to it if they asked her out -- not because she necessarily likes them that way, but she trusts them enough that they could at least have a good time. Maybe feelings will develop, you know? After all, going on a date helps to put them in a different position they wouldn't normally be in as friends. It's more intimate.. less of just hanging out, but still having a good time. Seeing them in a different light could allow her to see them more in a romantic sense.
I dunno, that's what May thinks anyway.
Also, all of this pressuring her and egging Wally on isn't helping. At all. Rather, May's feeling more reluctant to trust Wally because she's not really sure if he's telling her everything. Oops... :>
I assume May isn't completely inexperienced (though she can still be naive at times), in that she has been in one relationship before. I haven't really decided who they should be, but I figure it only lasted a couple of months and then May realized she couldn't deal with a relationship at the time and moved on. Maybe it was a summer thing?.. Eh.
They did kiss, though he wasn't her first one. I'd like to think her first kiss was Brendan or Wally. But this guy she had a relationship with.. yeah they kissed and stuff, but the guy tried to go to second base a little early. May was a little caught off guard and not really too happy about that one, so he backed off. It was her first relationship after all.
This kind of explains why May's more comfortable in her own skin as opposed to a girl who experienced none of that romance. However, it also explains her longing for that romance, and why she still has troubles reading her own feelings.
