A wooden lance sat against the wall, ignored by each passer-by that came and went.
Sure, in his own world he might consider just taking it for himself, but a) he didn’t have any real need for it, and b) this was not his own world. It could be easily be the case that this belonged to someone else. But simultaneously, he didn’t quite feel comfortable just leaving it there, as it could fall into the wrong hands. Until he was positive it didn’t belong to anyone, he vowed to find its rightful owner.
It wasn’t like he had much else to do in this city, anyway.
He began asking around the area, asking if anyone forgot or lost a lance, questioning them to make sure they really were the owner — but no luck. Each person he asked would either deny it as theirs or not correctly name where it was found, yet Link continued his little sidequest happily. It was a nice change of pace, and a great excuse to meet some of the locals and learn about his new surroundings. Truly, he didn’t mind doing this at all.
Another figure caught his attention, out of the corner of his eye: a tall, stoic man, dressed in dark armor and wearing a perpetual frown. It was too difficult to tell what the other might be thinking, but being one of the last few Link hadn’t asked yet, the Hylian decided to approach the other, the lance safely tucked behind him as announced his presence.
"’Scuse me! Is this yours?”
