In a bundle of limbs on the floor, nestled up on the fluffy white carpet Cosette had grown so fond of back home that she’d brought it to her room at the academy, laid the princess and her lost girl. It was almost nostalgic where they laid; having spent hours on this carpet before - having gone through so much pain trying to remove stains from it after spilling the most ridiculous things.
The music playing in the background setting the mood for the conversations they were having. They could talk about everything, though maybe that was all in Cosette’s head as she spewed out word after word, but she didn’t mind. Bree was here and Bree was home.
They both fell silent as the song changed into a calming melody. It was Bree’s playlist, and they knew all the songs by heart now. Cosette didn’t know if it was the toxins in her body that made the next choice or her childish way of thinking, but she jolted up into a standing position and held her hand out to the other girl. “Dance with me, Bree,” she demanded, though the beam spreading across her features was in high contrast to her words.
Luckily, she complied quickly and got up to dance with the princess - arms locking around each other’s waists, it was more of a mutual embrace than a proper dancing position, but they swayed in time with the slow beat of the song and continued into the next with only the moon as their witness.
