Titus is a Terrible Dad AU
- Titus is 42 but looks like he’s in his early 30s. He’s one of those people that ages gracefully and he knows it and is shameless about it.
- His kids are Kaamil (K) and Anju. They are 19 and 16 respectively.
- Titus means well and loves his kids, but doesn’t know the first thing about great parenting so he’s too damn candid and open about things one normally wouldn’t discuss with their children…
- …such as openly theorizing that they’re not his blood relatives and that they were foisted on him by gold diggers. Despite his suspicions, Titus has never gotten a dna test to find out the truth.
- Titus’ sexcapades are also out in the open. It’s a regular occurrence for him to be sprawled somewhere naked in the house with whatever one night stand he brought home. Both kids don’t really have many boundaries because of this, though neither of them walk around in the buff like Titus. K sometimes makes breakfast for the overnight guests, but his casual handling of the situation usually freaks them out.
- K is a papa’s boy through and through. He and Titus always outrank Anju because they decide things in the house by majority vote. Titus thinks his son is absolutely adorable but has kick the dog moments when he outright states that K is being too clingy.
- Anju is the stormcloud of the house, but only because she doesn’t think very highly of her dad and brother. She loves them but is done with their shit. She never smiles in family portraits and is never affectionate with either of them. Titus is very jealous of her friends because he’s seen what a ball of sunshine is daughter is with them. He gets hella petty whenever one of Anju’s friends visits.
- Anju and K are like oil and water. They don’t have heated arguments or anything, but their philosophies and outlooks are different.
- Titus gets too invested in his kids’ lives… in the way that one would react to a favorite television drama. He’s constantly asking them if they’re seeing anyone or if they tried drugs (and not in the accusatory ‘don’t do that’ parental way). Anju’s the bigger mystery between the two kids because she never shares anything with her dad. So Titus has a bunch of crackpot theories about her. Sometimes he compares them with K.
- Titus goes overboard with the support, to the point where it causes problems. For example, Anju once shared that she thought a girl in her math class was cute. Titus’ response was to throw her a coming out party at a five-star hotel, complete with press release. Anju was pissed. When a stripper popped out of the cake and scared Anju, she shoved her father into the dessert table.
- The entire family is weirded out by the Wards because they’re a scarily robotic and odd family. Titus and Tamara are corporate bffls for lyfe, so it’s common for them to have dinners and outings together. When the kids aren’t busy, they drag them into it. Anju and K hate Tamara’s children. Spending time with the Ward siblings is one of the few times they ever band together/get along. One of the twins has a crush on Anju, so K’s big brother instinct kicks in during these times.
- K is a NEET and has been since he graduated from high school. Titus doesn’t mind it because they’re rich, but Anju doesn’t approve of it at all. She alternates between urging her brother to do something with his life and mocking his lack of ambition. Anju herself is an aspiring author. Titus has offered numerous times to have one of her works published, but Anju wants to achieve her goals through her own merit.
- Sometimes the kids ground Titus… usually when he’s done something stupid or ridiculously flamboyant. When he’s grounded he’s not allowed to have anyone over, he’s not allowed to go out and party, and he’s not allowed to attend any of the kids’ events. Anju’s usually the one that grounds Titus, but K has done so once or twice when severely upset. Titus usually sits out his probation dutifully, just because more than anything he wants to be on his kids’ good side.
