From @salvia--archimagirus:
While she didn't make it a habit to leave her post in the Royal Palace for leisurely purposes, let alone to a length such as the world of the living, today was a very special one; worthy of its own special exception to the rule. Walking with a red gift bag adorned with a white ribbon at its handle, violet-stained lips bloomed into an excited grin as her former lieutenant came into sight.
"Hiyori-chan~" she waved at the petite lady before handing out the present, "Happy birthday!"
Inside the package was a rose-colored, porcelain tea set with a pig theme that was a nod to the moniker of her residence as a member of Squad Zero. Until the chance came upon them to have a proper catch-up feast in her floating estate, Kirio hoped the souvenir could serve as a gentle reminder of their good ol' days at the 12th for the vizard in her inevitable absence.

Her little heart seemed to swell to a hundred times its normal size. Whilst they had had a tearful reunion of sorts, Hiyori hasn’t had a lot of chances to catch up with her former captain. There is no question about it, despite a century of silence between them, Hiyori's heart recognises Kirio. And it forgave her a long, long time ago. Kirio was not her mother, but, whenever that voice of hers would call her Hiyori-Chan~, the little vizard would come sprinting out to answer that call leaving whatever else she was doing. And just like those many times in yester years, Hiyori skidded to a halt beside her, breathing a little harder than usual. "Y-yeah, Hikifune-Taichou!?"
Her freckled cheeks were glowing as she took in the vision of Kirio. As usual, she looks like a queen, clouds of lipstick coloured hair, black robes that looked like midnight, cheeks with the familiar ensignia and arms holding gifts and all of her love. Love for Hiyori.
“Hikifune-Taichou!” Hiyori ran straight up to Kirio, wrapping her tiny arms tight around her waist and breathing in her familiar perfume. This was such a pleasant surprise. Her little hummingbird heart was going crazy with joy right now.
This sight of her… was the best present.
She did take the giftbag, glancing at the teaset fondly and pulling her nose up to imitate the piggies in the set. She ran a thumb over it before giving her big, love-me eyes back up at Kirio.
“… I’m so happy ya came.”
Hiyori does not say it, but this visit has made her entire year.
